The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a full-time Dean in the School of Public and Human Services. The Dean is responsible for setting the standard for intellectual engagement, academic integrity, and accomplishment by providing strategic vision for and operational leadership of the academic center. They will provide strategic, innovative, and visionary leadership in development of the Schools' Strategic Plan in support of the College's Strategic Plan. The Dean will also provide inclusive and collegial leadership supporting innovation and change in support of the College's Strategic Plan. They will evaluate and respond to the needs of faculty, staff, and students. Key responsibilities for this position include: - Promotes an environment supportive of the College mission and vision and participates in the development and implementation of College policies, procedures, and guidelines;
- Ensures academic and pedagogical quality of the School's programs;
- Consults with the Vice President for Learning and Academic Affairs regarding staffing needs and hiring. Collaborates in the design of recruitment activities to attract qualified full-time and part-time staff;
- Oversees and performs full and part-time faculty evaluations;
- Promotes excellence in faculty and staff teaching, service, professional growth and development;
- Oversees the mediation process for faculty and student issues, grievances, and appeals where necessary;
- Responsible for ensuring completion of all assessment projects including analysis of data and application of analysis to improve learning and teaching in coordination with Academic Assessment. Oversees the development and assessment of student learning outcomes and directs program review in accordance with the accrediting agency's guidelines;
- Coordinates faculty advising within the School including advising schedules, planning, and serving as the School's liaison with the Advising Center;
- Oversight for the development and maintenance of the program web pages;
- Develops and administers the School's budget and maintains fiscal accountability;
- Assesses and authorizes the ordering of equipment and supplies within the budget guidelines in coordination with the Assistant Vice President and faculty;
- Serves as contact for faculty who may be absent from class and serves as coordinator of appropriate coverage;
- Works with others to facilitate partnerships with the community and represents the College to outside entities;
- Works with the Assistant Vice President for Academics and Vice President for Learning and Academic Affairs Office to determine workspace and facilities allotted to the School;
- Coordinates and maintains appropriate academic credentials and instructional standards required for accreditation, policy and procedure requirements of grants, and local state organizations;
- Recommends adjunct and full-time new-hires;
- Directs the process of credit evaluation, certification for graduation, admission of programs, and academic standards for continuation in program or college;
- Provides support and cooperation with other departments or divisions within the College when needed;
- Advises on the schedule of School classes based upon student needs;
- Meets regularly with the Assistant Vice President for Learning and Academic Affairs and others as needed;
- Assists with college-wide events such as, but not limited to, commencement ceremonies, open houses, and orientations;
- Performs such other duties as may be required by the Assistant Vice President for Learning and Academic Affairs.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: - Master's degree in Education, Psychology, Human Services, Addiction Studies, Criminal Justice, Sociology or other appropriate field
- Progressively higher levels of administrative experience
Preferred Qualifications: - Strong commitment to the mission of the College
- Demonstrated ability to lead, communicate and motivate in support of the College's academic vision
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering high academic standards and programming that meets the needs of the students and community
- A record of supporting faculty and staff, and promoting student success
- Ability to manage large budget
- Ability to build community, education and in-house partnerships, and lead and collaborate on team efforts
