Internal Job Number: P05022CT Description: This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Executive Support Specialist 1 position for the Department of Integrative Biology at Oregon State University (OSU). This position is a full-time Executive Support Specialist 1 position for Dr. Lubchenco and Dr. Menge, and occasionally for the LubMenge Lab program within the Department of Integrative Biology at Oregon State University (OSU). The Executive Support Specialist works under the direct supervision of the Administrative Manager and provides lead work and support for Drs. Jane Lubchenco, Bruce Menge, and the Administrative Manager. This position also includes general support to the LubMenge program team in performing various administrative duties. This position works closely with the Arts and Sciences Business Center and the Department of Integrative Biology to ensure proper fiscal and budget processes. The person in this position must keep current with university policies and procedures in providing support to Dr. Jane Lubchenco and Dr. Bruce Menge regarding current projects, research, and travel needs. This position also supports overall LubMenge Lab team members with similar duties. Dr. Lubchenco's commitments include substantial national and international travel which can be complex and will sometimes fluctuate. Due to the nature of this work, there may be unavoidable changes to travel logistics before and during travel dates. This position requires the ability to adapt quickly and make changes swiftly, accurately, and professionally, with complete follow-through to get Dr. Lubchenco up to date information in a timely manner. The Department of Integrative Biology receives support for its academic program from the College of Science. In addition to the faculty's activities in research and service, it has teaching responsibilities in nearly every undergraduate major at OSU. The department has developed an internationally recognized graduate program in ecology and marine, evolutionary, and conservation biology with faculty working in these areas at the level of the cell, organism, and community. The College of Science provides a core instructional role at OSU, supporting the ideals of learning, discovery, and engagement that are the foundation of a land-grant university. The College embraces instruction and research, in disciplines ranging from the physical, mathematical, statistical sciences to the life sciences that are based in unbiased inquiry and a dedication to discovery and innovation. The College of Science is committed to partnering with industry and public agencies to address some of the most compelling challenges of today and tomorrow. Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty): Three years of clerical/secretarial experience which included: one year at a full performance level performing typing, word processing, or other generating of documents; and lead work responsibility or coordination of office procedures. Courses or training in Office Occupations or Office Technology may be substituted for up to one year of the clerical/secretarial experience. No substitution will be made for the one year at the full performance level. Requirements :
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months Type: Generally, M-F, 8am – 5pm in an office environment on the Corvallis campus. Extended periods sitting or standing at a workstation. Due to the travel component, may infrequently involve the need to work a few hours outside of the normal business day.
