Access Control Mechanic Job ID: Location: Main Campus - UCR Schedule: 8AM - 5PM Category: Campus Facilities and Support Services Salary: $87,007 - $97,969 Full/Part Time: Full-time(100%) Organization: Facilities Planning Design & Const Department: Maintenance Services Application Deadline: Open Until Filled Position Information: Reporting to the Fire & Life Safety Supervisor in the Facilities Services Department, the Access Control Mechanic performs journey-level access control and locksmith services throughout the University of California, Riverside campus. The Access Control Mechanic is responsible for installing, programing, troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance, inspections and monitoring of a variety of access systems and stand-alone networks. Additionally, the Access Control Mechanic is responsible for coordinating and communicating with campus customers to understand their needs and fulfill work order requests. Access control services may be preformed indoors and outdoors throughout the campus and must be available to respond to emergencies during and after hours. This position also coordinates with other skilled trades in preparing the campus' new builds for launch and occupancy. The full salary range for the Access Control Mechanic is $41.67 - $46.92 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. For information about our generous employee benefits package, visit: Employee Benefits Overview Job Description Details: General Information Job Title 008266 Grade Christopher Pillen Supervisor Key Responsibilities: Installs, programs, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains a variety of networked access systems and stand-alone access systems, including: Hirsch systems, card-key systems, keypads, magnetic stripe readers, proximity readers, various biometric systems, elevator control systems, and ADA access systems. Monitors and maintains line and low-voltage supply systems, software and servers that support the access control systems; performs troubleshooting and programming to repair connectivity and operational issues. Activates and issues applicable cards, pins, codes, etc. to students, faculty and staff. Ensures proper credentials and/or necessary approvals are obtained in order to grant students, faculty and staff access types, keys, parking lot access, and safe access. Tracks and maintains records of access types, keys, parking lot access, and safe access with applicable user information; adds, deletes and/or updates information as needed. Installs, modifies, repairs and replaces mechanical and electronic locking systems, including: hardwired, stand-alone, battery powered, door, cabinet, desk, cylindrical, mortise, deadbolt, mailbox locks, auxiliary locks, etc. Creates and maintains interchangeable cores A2 & A4 systems, as well as multi-level master key systems; cuts and issues keys. Re-keys locks as needed, cuts and re-issues keys to users. Installs, repairs and/or replaces building, door and mechanical hardware. Troubleshoots and repairs ADA/Auto doors. Resets sensors, pads, mats and beams, reprograms and/or calibrates door travel, speed and force. Repairs and/or replaces mechanical door closers. Adjusts closing speed, force and backcheck. Ensures proper credentials and/or necessary approvals are obtained in order to grant students, faculty and staff access to buildings, classrooms, labs, gates, etc. Tracks and maintains accurate key holder records; adds, deletes and/or updates information as needed. Maintains working knowledge of the proper and safe usage of access control and locksmithing equipment and maintenance skilled trade. Keeps track of shop materials/parts. Performs computer input within the work order system for recording of labor and materials used in work performed; maintains clear and accurate documentation of all inspections, testing and maintenance performed. Updates equipment documentation, specifications and drawings as needed. Cleans truck/shop and maintains organization of materials and tools; performs routine maintenance or coordinates for repair or replacement of tools and equipment, as required. Accounts for shop parts/supplies inventory and reports supply needs to be restocked. Consults with supervisor and/or lead for technical information, as needed. Interprets prints, schematics, wiring diagrams, flow charts and written descriptions of functions and project requirements. Supports maintenance projects and programmatic work assignments. Adheres to the scheduling and completion of work assignments through the work order system. Maintains accurate work order records and completes paperwork in a neat and timely manner. Defines and describes materials, tools and/or equipment, work methods and task sequences. Obtains materials and equipment, as required. Participates in safety and other trainings as required. Performs all job duties in adherence to all University and Departmental safety guidelines. Serves as liaison with clients, relaying their needs and requirements to the appropriate department or supervisor. Maintains a positive attitude and communicates effectively with colleagues, supervisors, staff, faculty and students. Communicates and reports to a supervisor and/or staff regarding any potential issues, not limited to potential safety hazards (e.g. broken glass, regulated materials, damaged steps, excess water, fire, etc.), or liabilities during the day-to-day operations. Contacts Facilities Services teams, as necessary, when further action is required. Responds to customer complaints and requests for information.
