System Administrator (SYS ADM 2 TX) Job Summary Under the general direction of the DevOps Manager and in coordination with the IT Shared Services System Administration Group, the System Administrator 2 supports all levels of Linux and Windows system administration and manages network services. This position is responsible for ensuring departmental compliance with campus communications, information security, and Internet use policies. The System Administrator 2 also plays a crucial role in implementing system enhancements, managing systems and services, and administering security policies. The incumbent will work on a team that evaluates, installs, modifies, and supports operating systems, databases, utilities, and web-related tools, including implementing system rollouts. Department Overview The College's computing infrastructure is currently diverse and decentralized across eight academic departments and ten graduate programs. Windows and Linux instructional labs hosting complex application setups for each departmental discipline are supported by the college development operations team. Each department has extensive and varied technical computing research requirements, encompassing HPC clusters, robotics, instrumentation, graphics, code development, security, and other specialty systems. Additionally, the College maintains a diverse set of infrastructure to support general needs such as cloud services, web services, firewall, virtual machines, SAN and backup services, databases, and user account management.
