Fall River Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc. is accepting resumes for a Journeyman Lineman for the Driggs, ID service area. A housing stipend and relocation assistance are provided to assist with housing costs.
Qualified candidates must be a certified journeyman level lineman. Must be able to safely perform maintenance and construction work on overhead and underground transmission and distribution systems, equipment operation, tree trimming, outage restoration, line switching, etc. Will be required to take rotating on-call duty and must be capable of working outdoors in harsh weather conditions. Strong verbal communication skills required in order to deal with a vast range of personalities both inside and outside the organization. Selected applicant will be required to live within a 15-minute response time to the Driggs office. Housing assistance is available to assist with the 15 minute requirement.

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Provides skills and ability for the construction, operation, and maintenance for the Cooperative’s electrical distribution system. Must have a demonstrated knowledge and have the skills required to perform all aspects of overhead and underground line work, safely, and without supervision. Has achieved journeyman lineman ranking through an approved apprenticeship program.
DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES (End Results Expected):
10. Maintains all safety and DOT required certifications, including CDL, CPR, and OSHA required training. 11. Records and submits all required data, work order sheets, meter and equipment numbers, material tickets, and takes are of material in an accurate and timely manner as instructed. 12. Understands Cooperative policies and procedures and work rules, and ensures compliance. 13. Conducts oneself in such a manner as to contribute a better understanding of the Cooperative when in contact with members or the general public, as well as maintain a harmonious relationship with all Cooperative personnel. 14. Performs related duties as assigned.

Must possess excellent interpersonal skills. Must work as a team player and follow instructions. Must communicate and correspond with peers and others to ensure efficient, safe, and professional relationships are maintained.
COMMUNICATIONS:
ORAL:
Must possess good communicative skills to effectively express oneself to all levels of employees. Knows and uses correct verbal communication skills to articulate procedures while performing work.
WRITTEN:
Ability to clearly and effectively; understand and respond to written instructions; turn in completed forms and paperwork efficiently.
SCHEDULING AND PLANNING:
Must be able to schedule and organize time efficiently to complete tasks required. Ability to coordinate and plan construction tasks to make jobs safe and efficient. Must be flexible and change jobs on short notice.
BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent education. Must have completed a recognized four-year apprenticeship program. EXPERIENCE:
Will preferably have experience with RUS construction in a Cooperative Setting. Distribution underground construction and operation desired.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Sit, stand, walk, grasp, reach outward and overhead, kneel, squat and bend and climb. Ability to safely ascend and descend stairways, cat walks and utility poles. Occasionally lift/carry 25 – 75 lbs. Push/pull 25 -50 lbs. Ability to work in extreme heat or cold and in confided spaces and at elevated heights above ground level. Ability to differentiate colors and utilize senses to monitor plant operations. Visual acuity and manual dexterity in using precision and non-precision hand tools, power tools, and technical devices; ability to use all required safety equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position when possible.
OTHER SKILLS: Must have or be able to obtain an in state CDL.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED:
Must be able to operate a bucket truck, backhoe, digger/derrick truck, chain saw, and other hydraulic equipment and hand tools.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Full time Outdoor construction and maintenance. Small crew size. Traveling and working from vehicles. Outdoor working conditions will vary by season; expect very cold, snowy condition in winters. Travel/driving conditions will also vary by season, and will include some mountainous terrain on icy roadways. Possible exposure to electrical shock exists.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Requirement to take rotating on-call duty is integral with position. Must live within a 15 minute response time to the area office assigned to. Employment is subject a to pre-employment drug test and background check.
