Your Role on the Team
The Assistant Director plays a pivotal role in managing the Humanities Center's financial and grant operations. This position oversees the center and program budgets, as well as grant award budgets, comprising the majority of the role. A key responsibility is managing the Humanities Center's internal grants program, which supports faculty and graduate student research. This includes overseeing grant applications, award management, peer review processes, applicant relations, and the evaluation and reporting of grant outcomes.
In addition to grant and budgetary management, the Assistant Director leverages extensive experience as an administrative operations professional to manage, plan and administer the operations of the Humanities Center. Demonstrating seasoned judgment in planning and problem-solving. The position reports to the Humanities Center Executive Director, supervises three program managers and four student assistants, and oversees human resources and operational workflows for the unit.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $85,400- $121,100 (Annual).
Required:
- Advanced knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and / or personnel management.
- Advanced interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
- Advanced knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.
- Advanced knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs, such as KFS, AP Recruit, and HR hiring platform.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Advanced skills in short- and long-term strategic planning, analysis, problem-solving and customer service.
- Advanced knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and / or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.
- Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
- Strong ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively with internal and external peers and managers.
- Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- 4-6 years Experience in increasingly responsible administrative management positions that include budget management.
Preferred:
- Doctorate in related area and/or equivalent experience training preferred
