Ruan Lab Post-Doctoral Associate

Overview of position

The Ruanâ™s Lab in the Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering department at the University of
Minnesota, is interested in a Post-doctoral Researcher to work on interdisciplinary research related to
thermochemical conversion, advanced oxidation technology and food engineering. The successful
applicant will work at an independent level to assist the Principal Investigator (PI) with project
management, experimental operation, manuscript/report development, etc.

Duties/Responsibilities

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

75%  Research related to microwave assisted pyrolysis and gasification for various solid
waste including biowastes and waste plastics utilization for fuels, chemicals and materials production,
advanced oxidation technology including nonthermal plasma and photocatalysis assisted low temperature
microwave and intensive pulsed light technologies application in animal production facility disinfection,
nitrogen fixation, and food safety assurance. 

25%  The researcher will lead efforts or collaborate on research reports, peer-reviewed manuscripts for
publication and invention disclosures, and participate in seminars, national and international conferences
when needed. The researcher will also participate in, or initiate, further grant proposals to fund research in
the program areas. The researcher will also be expected to help train undergraduates and graduates, and
post-doctors, manage the lab, and help with classroom teaching.
