Ranked as one of the nation’s Best Children’s Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report and as one of 10 Top Children's Hospitals in the nation by The Leapfrog Group for excellence in patient safety and quality of care, we’re seeking a pediatric hospitalist to join the pediatric hospital medicine team at the main campus for Valley Children’s Healthcare in Madera, California. Board certification or eligibility in pediatric hospital medicine is desired but not required for consideration. This position provides the opportunity to be involved in teaching residents and fellows at Valley Children’s, affiliated with Stanford University School of Medicine. Our pediatric hospital medicine division is robust, diverse and experienced. We pride ourselves on a sustainable model that includes a well-developed nocturnist program; and wellness is a priority in our division. We consistently re-evaluate our model and work hours based on national trends and consider ourselves to be a leader in innovative PHM scheduling. Our new hires are given evening/night shifts with an equitable opportunity to move to day shifts as they become available. We provide acute care inpatient pediatrics, surgical co-management, care for children with medical complexity and ED consultation. We do not provide newborn care, neonatal intensive care, or attend deliveries. We have seven-day teams that are a blend of teaching and non-teaching teams and three nocturnists providing coverage in staggered shifts. At Valley Children’s, you’ll work alongside more than 670 physicians and 3,500 staff at the state-of-the-art, 358-bed facility that sits on a 50+ acre campus on the idyllic bluffs of the San Joaquin River, with the Sierra Nevada Mountains in the background. We serve a population of 1.3 million children in twelve counties of the Central Valley. We are a safety net hospital and see a wide variety of pathology. Valley Children’s Healthcare includes one of the largest freestanding children’s hospitals in the nation, along with a medical foundation and network of physicians, clinics, and satellite facilities around the region. These facilities include the Neonatal Intensive Care Units, the network owns and operates in Fresno, Hanford and Merced, and its outpatient physician offices in Modesto, Merced, and Bakersfield.
