The COMPASS Project within Michigan Medicine is looking for a Data Manager for our new NIMH project. The Comprehensive Mobile Precision Approach for Scalable Solutions in Mental Health Treatment (COMPASS) project is focused on the effects of machine learning, wearable and mobile technology to both reduce mental health symptoms and predict response to clinic-based treatments. The ideal candidate would be interested and passionate about designing, developing and implementing moderately complex database applications to accommodate a variety of user needs. Overall, they will be responsible for analyzing and determining informational needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, proposed manipulation, data flow and storage requirements and data output and reporting capabilities. We are looking for someone who is detail oriented and will work to conceptualize, develop and implement complex program designs to assist with the study data collection, participant tracking, integration of electronic health records, and required sponsor funding reports. This position will start mainly on the currently described project, with the potential to assist with other projects. Database tracking: Designs, programs, and maintains complex databases including development of user interfaces to databases. Develop a tracking system of data systems, passwords, and progress of data management across projects. Will work alongside the data analysts and programmers to determine variable coding and organization and to articulate procedures to study staff. Reporting: Create reports and determine proper data fields needed for report completion. Communicate data needs to programmers and analysts. Pull data for reports and analyze/assist with report completion, ensuring data accuracy. Data Entry Training and Management: Implements and maintains procedures for collecting, entering, and cleaning data, as well as safe data storage and helping to make data available for data analysts and investigators. Trains staff on data entry and revises study workflows regularly. Conducts quality assurance assessments of data entry. Survey and Questionnaire Development: Work with study team to determine best practices for data collection and constructing questionnaires. Develops codebooks to correspond with questionnaires. Tracks questionnaires across studies to determine thoughtful overlapping of data needs and to avoid redundancies. Data Analysis: Perform basic data analysis of descriptive and hypothesis testing. Ability to translate results into tables, charts, and written documents for dissemination. Data Troubleshooting: Analyze existing systems functions and critical problems working with staff to determine and implement best practices for data management. Additional project administrative tasks as necessary.
Experience with SQL, and MyDataHelps Designer This position is term-limited for about 2 years (ending October 2026) with the possibility of renewal based on need and available funding. At the end of the stated term, your appointment will terminate and will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits.
