The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition and The Childhood Research in Obesity Prevention (CROP) research program at Stanford University is seeking a highly skilled Manager for Research Data Initiatives i.e. data management specialist (Research Data Analyst 2) to manage and analyze large and complex sets of information and research data, technical and scientific in nature, independently with minimal supervision.
The CROP research program's goal is to advance child health equity. To achieve this goal, the program seeks to translate clinical, community, and epidemiologic research findings into innovative population-level interventions during pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood to prevent and treat childhood obesity and chronic diseases particularly among health disparity populations. The culture of the program is one that values growth, teamwork, and inclusion. Current research projects are funded by NIH, PCORI, and Foundations amounting to over $20M total costs between 2024-2030 in addition to endowed program funding. These include the Food FARMacia randomized trial of an infant food security intervention; the LINC mixed methods study of social risk factors, navigation, and neighborhoods; and the PCORI-funded CHIME (Comparing Health Interventions for Maternal Equity) program. The CHIME program focused on maternal- infant health equity through a comparative effectiveness research study, broader partnership network, partner learning network, and research mentorship program.
Duties include:
*Prioritize and extract data from a variety of sources such as notes, survey results, medical reports, and laboratory data, and maintain its accuracy and completeness.
*Create analytic files with detailed documentation.
*Determine additional data collection and reporting requirements.
*Select appropriate statistical tools for addressing a given research question.
*Implement data analysis through statistical programming.
*Present results for investigators using graphs and tables.
*Summarize findings orally and in written form.
*Participate in the preparation of papers for publication.
*Consult with investigators on appropriate statistical approaches to data analyses; assist in study design and proposal development.
*Mentor collaborators in areas of experimental design, quality control, and statistical analysis
*Develop oral and written dissemination of findings for conference presentations and peer-reviewed journal articles.
*Oversee lower-level staff on issues related to quality control and creation of analysis files.
*Design and customize reports based upon data in the database. Oversee and monitor regulatory compliance for utilization of the data.
*Use system reports and analyses to identify potentially problematic data, make corrections, and eliminate root cause for data problems or justify solutions to be implemented by others.
*Create complex charts and databases, perform statistical analyses, and develop graphs and tables for publication and presentation.
*Assist with writing methods and results, and create tables and figures for peer-reviewed products.
*Serve as a resource for non-routine inquiries such as requests for statistics or surveys.
*Provide documentation based on audit and reporting criteria to investigators and research staff.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs. The pay range for this position working in the California Bay area is $104,358.00 to $128,038.00.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-Graduate degree (MS or MPH) with emphasis on Epidemiology and/or statistics.
-Relevant work experience, minimum two or more years of research data management experience
-Experience with nutrition research, community partnered research, clinical trials research, mixed methods research.
-Skills in descriptive analysis, modeling of data, and graphic interfaces.
-Proven track record of large data management experience.
-Experience and knowledge of code management such as Github.
-Experience in developing tools and statistical methods for large-scale data analysis is a plus.
-Experience on bioinformatics and/or software development team-based projects.
-Willingness to work in a highly collaborative environment.
-Experience as part of large NIH consortiums is a plus.
-Experience contributing to preparation of abstracts and manuscripts.
-Ability to quickly adapt and learn the latest tools and skills.
-Strong written and oral communication skills, generating and presenting reports and other technical and scientific presentations.
-Ability to collaboratively disseminate information to community partners, researchers, funders, and philanthropists.
-Outstanding ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
-Ability to work independently (e.g., find papers relevant to the subject, assess methods, implement methods, and apply them to datasets to reproduce results).
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience. Experience in a quantitative discipline such as economics, finance, statistics.
