SR EEG TECH
Job Summary The Senior EEG Technologist performs routine and complex EEG procedures on hospital inpatients and outpatients of various ages. EEG studies may be performed at the bedside, or our Midtown outpatient center under the direction of the Director of Neurodiagnostic Services and the Clinical EEG Supervisor or their designees.
The Senior EEG Technologist must demonstrate the ability to perform the full range of studies including but not limited to:
- Routine EEG studies
- Setting up/maintaining/disconnecting continuous long-term EEG monitoring and epilepsy monitoring unit patients and ambulatory
- EEG setups/teardowns
- Identify and implement the proper Neurodiagnostic procedure for a wide variety of patient populations
- Acts as a resource to other members of the EEG team as assigned
- Promotes compliance and support for department and UCDH policies and protocols
- Deliver direct patient care to a diversified patient population of all ages
- Ensure patient satisfaction by adhering to UCDH policies and procedures, ABRET/ACNS Guidelines, as well as federal, state, and local regulations
- Exercise independent judgment within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care
- Applies knowledge, experience, and judgment to determine the importance of a situation
- Set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations
- Participate in patient and staff education
- Demonstrates leadership skills
- Demonstrates accountability for own practices as defined by ABRET

Minimum Qualifications: For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license, certification and/or educational degree if required of the position
- Registered EEG (REEG)
- Minimum two (2) years as an EEG/Neurodiagnostic Technologist
- Clinical experience/knowledge of procedures include the following: [Routine EEG Examinations, Continuous Long-Term Monitoring (CLTM), In Lab Extended EEG Monitoring, Ambulatory outpatient EEG (hookup and disconnect), Phase I, Phase II set up, care, interventions/troubleshooting, Continuous EEG Monitoring (EMU/LTM)]
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Ability to utilize medical terminology appropriately
- Knowledge of current trends in Neurodiagnostic (EEG)

- Intermediate computer skills, advanced knowledge in troubleshooting, using Microsoft Teams, Excel, etc.
- Skills and ability to measure and accurately apply disc electrodes to those predetermined areas utilizing knowledge of the International 10/20 system
- Must know electrode placement to accurately monitor physiological artifacts and apply additional electrodes
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skill levels in area of expertise to ensure the provision of the highest quality patient care services
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Must have the ability to apply basic principles and practices of Neurodiagnostic technology to novel techniques and develop expertise in performing complex Neurodiagnostic procedures
- Interpersonal communication skills to interact with tact and diplomacy with hospital and clinic patients, physicians, and staff at all levels
- Ability to engage in collaborative problem-solving with coworkers and staff
- Must have the ability to function as a 'team player,' being considerate and flexible, considering the needs of your peers
- Ability to exercise discretion to ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained, and a professional, respectful hospital, clinic, or laboratory environment always exists

- Knowledge of medical records is sufficient to establish and maintain a filing system that meets the accessibility and storage needs of the Laboratory and complies with all pertinent laws, regulations, and HIPAA guidelines
- Working knowledge or ability to learn departmental and system policies and procedures
- Ability to efficiently use computer systems to retrieve pertinent patient information through the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Knowledge and ability to use computer systems and maintain clinical databases
- Filing skills to maintain logs and files of information in alphabetical, chronological, and/or numerical order, such that it is current and easily retrievable
Preferred Qualifications
- Epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU) experience
- Graduation from EEG school/program
- CLTM
- Bachelor's Degree
- Continuous EEG/Video monitoring in an Epilepsy Monitoring Unit
- Evoked Potentials such as AEP, VEP, SSEP ECOG, Laser ablation surgical monitoring, WADA, SPECT, Cortical Stim
Department Description
The clinical Neurodiagnostic Labs at UCDH consist of five specialty areas/units: EEG Lab hospital (inpatient) and ambulatory (outpatient), EMG Lab, Sleep Lab, and Transcranial Doppler (TCD) Lab. Each unit is managed jointly by the Neurodiagnostic Services Director and the Medical Director to provide Neurodiagnostic Services to UCDH and the Midtown Outpatient Center. May advise or act as a subject matter expert (SME) to Neurodiagnostic assistants and students.
