The Center for the Advancement of Teaching Excellence (CATE) at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) invites applicants for a position of Associate Director for Instructional Innovation, who will advance the CATE mission to support the UIC community of educators in their efforts to improve instruction, innovate in the classroom, and transform the teaching culture. Position Summary The Associate Director for Educational Development is responsible for engaging UIC instructors on our health science colleges in professional learning opportunities that advance student-centered, inclusive, and innovative teaching strategies. Responsibilities include developing and deploying online resources, consultation services, and programs such as workshops and webinars that are grounded in learning theory and empirical research and advocate for adoption of teaching methods effective in supporting diverse learners. The Associate Director will collaborate with college and unit leadership, instructors, and staff within the colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Applied Health Sciences, Social Work, and Public Health to design new opportunities in support of a wide-range of instructors, including clinical-, laboratory-, and classroom-educators, and those with full-time, part-time, volunteer, and adjunct positions. The Associate Director also will facilitate instructor participation in communities of practice as a means to sustain engagement and deepen pedagogical knowledge and skills. In addition, responsibilities entail collaborating with campus partners to launch new initiatives that promote and celebrate teaching. Duties & Responsibilities

Must be available to work a hybrid schedule and be on campus at least 3 days per week. Occasional travel for work-related conferences and events, including professional development opportunities at least once per year. Requires sitting for extended periods of time, standing, visual acumen, manual dexterity and fingering for working with computer keyboards. The position is a full-time, 12-month appointment, with an anticipated start date of March 16, 2025. The budgeted salary range for the position is $85,000 to $91,500.
