OVERVIEW This position is part of the College of Science and Engineering Shared Services Team (SST). SST is a team of administrative and financial professionals who support units across the College of Science and Engineering. This position reports to the Director of Shared Services and fulfills three important roles. First, this position will provide leadership to the financial professionals on SST. Working with the SST Director, this position will guide the work and assignments of other team members who serve in primarily financial roles.
Second, this position will lead SST efforts to provide a central hub for the onboarding, training, and development of financial professionals across the College. Working with the SST Director and other leaders in the College, this position will take a key role in building a community of practice for CSE financial professionals. Third, as a member of SST, and to maintain currency on operational issues, this position may provide direct support to units as needed. These assignments will change over time to meet the Collegeâ™s evolving needs. This is a hybrid position, neither fully remote nor fully on-campus.
Job Duties Leading SST Financial Staff (20%) - Manage other members of the SST serving primarily in financial roles. Serve as direct supervisor for those members, including annual reviews and performance management in consultation with the Director. - Working with the Director, assign roles to supervised SST members, matching individual skills and experience to the specific needs of units/projects. Organize and assign staff so that SST fulfills its role of providing auxiliary, interim, and/or specialized support as needed in the College. - Meet regularly with individual team members to discuss performance, train, answer questions, and provide feedback. Mentor and support the development of individual team members. - Respond to inquiries from leaders across the College, or as delegated by the Director, to evaluate opportunities for additional assignments.
Job Duties Leading Development of CSE Financial Staff (60%) - Working with the Director, with the heads of other CSE shared service centers, and with CSE leadership, develop and implement a central hub/resource for onboarding, training, and developing financial professionals across CSE. - Coordinate a financial community of practice and a mentoring/support network across CSE. This network will improve support for individuals, increase resiliency across positions, and encourage adoption of best practices across CSE. - Provide leadership and foster a professional and positive working environment committed to principles and practices of respect, inclusivity, continuous improvement, and teamwork. - Support and encourage a development âœpipelineâ within the CSE financial community, allowing growth and promotion opportunities across units within the College.
Job Duties as a Member of the Team (20%) - Specific duties (and time allocated to those duties) will vary as assignments change over time. Typical duties will include some combination of the following, as needed by local units: non- sponsored accounting across the full breadth of an academic unit; sponsored accounting across the full life cycle of a grant; approvals and certified approvals; reporting; effort coordination; budgeting; serving as an expert on relevant policies and procedures. |
