IT Ancillary Systems Principal Trainer (Ambulatory/Radiant)

Description Under the direction of the Training Manager, Principal Trainers work with the Training Manager, Application Managers, & Application Analysts to develop and execute the training program. Principal trainers are integral members of the project team participating in workflow design, engagement and educational activities. They are responsible for developing training programs and maintaining the course curricula & training materials for their application. In addition, the Principal Trainer is responsible for building, testing, troubleshooting and maintaining the training environment, managing updates to policy and procedure documentation related to training, conducting training for staff, and coordinating training for software upgrades and updates. The Principal Trainer works with business owners, vendors, and ISS team members to evaluate and recommend training solutions to complex problems and requests. This flexible hybrid role allows for a blend of remote and on-site work, requiring presence on-site at least 20% of the time or as needed based on operational requirements. Please note, travel to the "home office" location is not reimbursed. Each employee will complete a FlexWork Agreement with their manager to outline expectations and ensure mutual understanding. These arrangements are periodically reviewed and may be adjusted or terminated as necessary. Salary offers are based on a variety of factors including qualifications, experience, and internal equity. The full salary range for this position is $102,500 - $227,700 annually. The University anticipates offering a salary between the minimum and midpoint of this range. Qualifications • Must have or acquire admin certifications required to support the applications. If Principal Trainer does not yet hold needed certifications, they will be required to travel to Wisconsin and attend Epic Certification training sessions or complete Proficiency training as required by their Manager. Principal Trainer required to achieve admin certification (or proficiency) within three months of the last class and three exam attempts. • Principal Trainer required to achieve curriculum and environment certifications in their primary application within six months of their hire date and three exam attempts. • Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree with equivalent work experience. • 3+ years of professional development/training experience. • Experience in adult education, instructional design and eLearning development. Proficiency with a variety of learning development tools. • Ability to collaborate with SMEs and learners through the entire instructional design process. Works with all levels of the organization from front-line staff to senior management. • Experience in designing and delivering training programs. • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed with excellent organizational, writing, interpersonal, and presentation skills. • Extensive knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional systems design, and other training methodology/concepts • Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to convey technical information to all levels of application users in a specific, clear, and concise manner. • Effective leadership skills and strong customer service orientation. • Experience managing, coaching, or mentoring trainers. • Experience working with communications team to publish training schedules and communicate with stakeholders • Extensive knowledge of UCLA policies, culture, procedures & business operations (desired, not required). • Must be detail oriented and have a knack for probing for information, in order to fully understand the underlying needs that influence how a training environment should be configured/ organized. • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple and competing tasks, appropriately delegate and track work, and hold individuals accountable for work tasks. • Ability to work effectively as a team player and work with people of all backgrounds, at all levels. • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines without reminders. • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach and support Credentialed Trainers as well as peers. • Ability to remain calm in difficult and stressful situations. Must be able to recognize problems, evaluate, and refer to the appropriate channels for action. Required Knowledge and Experience • Demonstrate proficiency with information systems technology, which also includes Microsoft Office Suite, email, intranet, internet, and other systems. • Demonstrated skill in system workflow and business process flow analysis and design. • Bachelor’s Degree in education, health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and/or equivalent combination of experience/training. • Three years of experience in a healthcare related organization.
