Position DescriptionThe Vice Dean for Academic Affairs is accountable directly to the Executive Vice Dean with responsibilities including, but not limited to:
Faculty Appointment: This position is a full-time or part-time position that will have a faculty appointment in one of the UWSOM departments appropriate for background and experience. The administrative role is a 0.80 FTE position. This position is not eligible for tenure. This position may or may not have time dedicated to clinical effort. This is a 12-month service period position (July - June) with an anticipated start date in Summer 2025. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Compensation The base salary range for this position will be $250,000 - $500,004 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications and based on the individual's specialty or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Other compensation associated with this position may include administrative salary supplement and allowances. Location: This position will be based at the Seattle campus with expectation of travel and presence across the WWAMI region. QualificationsEducation Requirements: Requires a Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy degree (or foreign equivalents) with graduate training and board certification in a medical or surgical specialty by the American Board of Medical Specialties. The physician must meet the requirements for a full and unrestricted medical license in Washington state and must meet the requirements for appointment to the faculty. Work Experience Requirements: A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible related experiences is preferred, of which five years should be senior supervisory and/or management experience as an administrator responsible for medical student educational programs. The individual must have extensive working knowledge of medical education at the medical student level. Prior experience and involvement with the WWAMI program is preferred.
