![]() State Relations Manager About the Opportunity This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the Associate Vice President for External Affairs, the State Relations Manager will assist with all aspects of state government relations for Northeastern in Massachusetts and across the university's network of U.S. campuses. The State Relations Manager will develop relationships with state government officials, track and provide guidance on state legislative and regulatory matters, and help shape public policy priorities that support the university's mission of education, research, and innovation. The State Relations Manager will aid in the development, planning, and advocacy of the university's state policy agenda by identifying strategic opportunities and delivering background materials. Responsibilities include preparing briefings and hearing summaries of proposed legislation and other governmental matters, conducting policy research, preparing documents, and presenting information concerning legislation and other governmental matters, such as briefing memos, policy proposals, and advocacy one-pagers. Key responsibilities include policy research, analysis, and development; advocacy; compliance and reporting; and organizing events that highlight the university's public policy and institutional impact. The position is based on the Boston campus with the option of one remote day per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES 1) Conduct policy analysis, prepare advocacy materials (including one-pagers, memos, and background briefings), and help develop funding and policy proposals to advance the university's state government relations agenda in states where Northeastern maintains regional campuses. 2) Plan and schedule advocacy meetings and undertake special projects as assigned, including organizing a campus speaker series and events that showcase the university's impact. 3) Prepare state lobbying and compliance reports.
