Posted Job Title UACS Supportive Services Coordinator, Netter Center for Community Partnerships Job Profile Title Coordinator B Job Description Summary The UACS Supportive Services Coordinator is a MSW-required position funded in part by the City of Philadelphia Out-of-School Time (OST) program, that will work to increase student enrollment in BenePhilly and accessibility to OST/afterschool and summer programs. They will coordinate supports and activities to ensure student participants have the accessibility needed to participate in afterschool/summer OST programs. The Coordinator will supervise Supportive Services Group Leaders, Penn MSW practicum students (which requires an MSW) and MPH students and work with Netter and school-based staff to complete and support Student Accommodation plans. The activities that the Coordinator, MSW students and Supportive Services Group Leaders would complete includes connecting students and their families to the relevant supports such as accommodations and health resources (mental, behavior or physical), immunizations, parenting classes, benefits access, food resources, transportation, clothing, etc. This position will also help with ensuring student participants have the accessibility support they need to participate in programs. The position will be trained on how to create an accessible program and collaborate with Site Coordinator on developing an inclusive environment within their OST Program. They will support Site Directors to develop training plans for staff to ensure they have appropriate training in SEL, Behavior Management, Differentiated Learning, etc. The position will work with the SBMH Partnerships Manager to coordinate university academic partnerships, student workers and volunteers to support their delivery of supportive instruction and programming. This position will also implement direct service related to students. This position will implement all required program reporting and compliance, including that of funders and the Netter Center. This position works as part of a team with other Netter Center staff and school partners and will work closely with ABCS courses and facilitate connections to faculty partners. This position works closely with the Site Directors to ensure programming addresses the supportive needs of students and also supervises undergraduate fellows, work-study and volunteer Penn students. The position is supervised by the UACS Public Health Partnerships Manager. Job Description Founded in 1992, the Barbara and Edward Netter Center for Community Partnerships is the University's primary vehicle for advancing civic and community engagement at Penn. It brings together the resources and assets of both the University and the wider community to help solve universal problems such as poverty, health inequities, environmental sustainability, and inadequate, unequal education as they are manifested in the University's local geographic area of West Philadelphia and Philadelphia at large. The Netter Center develops and helps implement democratic, mutually transformative, place-based partnerships between Penn and West Philadelphia that advance research, teaching, learning, practice, and service and improve the quality of life on campus and in the community. The Netter Center works with and serves as a model for other higher education institutions across the United States and around the world. The Netter Center's university-assisted community schools (UACS) is a strategy to educate, engage, empower, and serve all members of the community in which the school is located and engage students (K-16+) in real world, community problem solving. Duties/Job Responsibilities: Coordinate UACS Student Support Services In partnership with student families/caregivers and UACS staff, identify students that have supportive needs; coordinate Penn MSW and MPH students to complete intake to assess student needs during the registration process or as referred by the Site Director or Parent/Guardian; participate in the development of a Student Accommodations plan (with input from youth, Site Director, Parent/Guardian, University partners, school administration, and/or afterschool instructors as needed) to support students engage in afterschool/summer program successfully; work with site team to maintain inclusive environment for youth with diverse abilities. Ongoing Program Monitoring and Supervision of Penn Students Monitor the implementation of the plan by checking in with Site Director, parent/guardian, youth; identify and coordinate program-level supports including staff training, technical assistance from Variety and PHMC, funders, assistive equipment and technologies, and/or other materials to support students successfully; document the plan and have available on site for review and updates as necessary, monitor student progress using student logs and or identify the need for additional supports. The role assists student's Family with registering them for services and supports with external service providers and keep families/caregivers informed appropriate community resources Supervise Penn students engaged in school day programming, coordinate undergraduate fellows, work-study and volunteer Penn students; convene regular reflection check-in meetings with partners; convene site-based stakeholder meetings and maintain communications within staff groups about site-related programs and information. Evaluation & Data Collection Record, track and maintain student participant program plans, enrollment daily attendance and manage required paperwork. Communicate with Netter colleagues across all school sites to build team learning and best practices. Family Outreach, Engagement & Education Support UACS staff with family engagement and outreach with respective case load; develop and maintain a resource directory for students and their families; develop, implement and lead ongoing family education activities. This includes connecting students and their families to the relevant supports such as connections to health resources (mental, behavior or physical), immunizations, parenting classes, benefits access, food resources, transportation, clothing, etc. Provide training to UACS staff to ensure they have appropriate knowledge of SEL, Behavior Management, Differentiated Learning, etc. Support existing student wellness partnerships that advance school and community health through UACS and services coordination operations Convene with school administration, Penn, school-based, CBOs and City partners to plan, coordinate and implement services and programs for youth. Other duties as assigned The hours for this position are 9:00am-6:00pm. This position is contingent upon grant funding. Qualifications: A minimum of a Master's of Social Work and 2-3 years of experience working with K-12 students or equivalent combination of education and experience is required, preferably in public health, education, social work, or other related disciplines. Minimum of 2-3 years work experience with elementary-aged children and/or high school youth development programming; preferred experience with facilitation of social-emotional learning content and/or trauma-informed training. Strong experience with community schools, preferably university-assisted community schools, and service learning, preferably academically based community service and youth workforce development. Knowledge about Penn and West Philadelphia preferred. Experience with working in School District of Philadelphia, urban settings and diverse student populations is preferred. Ability to be flexible and work on a team and ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Experience in facilitating successful youth development programs, collaborative endeavors, and managing multiple programs at once. Track record of both self-directed and team-oriented accomplishments. Organized, detail-oriented, accurate, dependable, and flexible. Excellent interpersonal, organization and communication skills and punctual and regular attendance are required. Completion and passing of funder-required compliance documentation and all Federal and State background checks/clearances. You may be required to renew your clearances, before beginning work.
