The work bridges together researchers across University of California campuses to study how social data from social media, wearable devices, and online technologies can be used to predict real-world events in areas like health and medicine, politics, crime, education, and finance. While our work is broadly focused, most of our day-to-day work is focused on health and medicine. UCI's Department of Emergency Medicine is committed to advancing clinical care, education and research to help patients with diverse emergency conditions. We offer patient-centered care, apply cutting edge skills to combat serious illness and injury. In addition, our physicians conduct innovative research aimed at preventing injury and disease. Your Role on the Team Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the SRA 3 will be responsible for day-to-day operations of assigned research projects, community outreach/dissemination, and writing briefs related to research. The candidate will oversee applying best practices in social media marketing to use technologies to recruit participants to studies and research websites, including new technologies for gaining followers/engagement with our work. The candidate will stay informed about emerging technologies, best practices and policies, and develop ideas for adapting studies. The candidate will work with lab staff and students to further the research goals of the Institute. The candidate will organize and monitor research activities including running project meetings, monitor students and volunteers, and maintain study files. Develop recruitment and follow-up protocols and flowcharts. Ensure timelines are met. Conduct community outreach efforts. The SRA 3 will also conduct statistical analyses on the current and future research projects, and write up the research results into manuscripts, briefs, and grant applications. The ideal candidate will be extremely organized and detail-oriented. Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and greater than 4 years of research and/or work experience with technologies such as social media to run online advertisements and gain website traffic and followers. Demonstrated knowledge and skill in current and emerging internet and social media platforms, digital marketing, as well as analytics and understanding data related to how people use technologies. To successfully address these tasks on time, the SRA 3 must have a broad set of intelligence, be extremely diligent and task-oriented, and an efficient worker who is comfortable with rigid project deadlines.
