Associate Fiscal Officer

Under the direction of the Financial Operations Manager in Engineering Research Administration (ERA) performs complex accounting and financial management to support the Spine Research Institute (SRI). Provides high level customer service to faculty, staff, and students, ensuring processing is timely, efficient, accurate and in compliance. Partners with Business Operations Center (BOC) to ensure efficient processing of fiscal transactions. Serves as a key business partner for the institute responsible for supporting a year-round budgeting process including identification of resource efficiencies, priorities and identifying and implementing opportunities for business process improvements. Develop and initiate new internal financial procedures, workflows and methods. Provides guidance to the center on fiscal processes and requirements. Approves financial transactions. Ensures all University and College policies are followed, ensures supporting documentation conforms to university guidelines. As directed by the College Internal Control structure, ensures segregation of duties in the processing of every transaction, appropriate mandatory approvals and reconciliation. Manages and oversees various financial processes including cost share, journals, reporting, earnings operations, and reconciliation to the GL. Develop and track Institute budget and long-term financial strategies. Manages overall earnings operations for SRI, including accounts receivable, invoicing, rates and fees, IDBs, and other payment processing Initiates fund transfers and assists with asset management and responds to audit request. Prepares and analyzes financial transactions for sponsored projects compliance reconciles various sponsored research general ledger accounts. Prepares detailed analytical reports and makes recommendations and/or corrections. Develops and maintains models to assist in the planning and preparation of future financial planning and analysis. Provides direct supervision, manages, evaluates, trains and monitors fiscal support staff and activities within SRI; serves as back up to other college research centers (CRCs) Fiscal Associates, as needed for transaction initiation. Provides fiscal training to new administrative staff within SRI. Required Qualifications: Bachelors Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in business administration or accounting. 4 years financial management experience. experience with processing paperwork related to travel and procurement. Experience with reconciling and forecasting budgets and expenditures on research grants preferred. Ability to work with diverse customer base. Ability to manage multiple priorities in an autonomous, but collaborative environment. Desired Qualifications: Experience with university systems including Workday Adaptive Planning Tableau etc. Knowledge of university fiscal policies and procedures. Experience with the Office of Sponsored Programs project accounting. Experience with contract management. Strong critical thinking and people skills. Excellent communication skills and considerable amount of knowledge of Microsoft excel. Remote/Hybrid working schedule can be negotiated The target hiring range for this job profile is $64,300 - $84,550. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
