Director of Accounting

Major Duties:

Primarily responsible for preparing monthly financial statements, maintaining general ledger accuracy, bank reconciliations, cash flow reporting, budgeting, and overseeing the work of accounts payable clerks, bookkeeper, and cashier. 

Specific Tasks: 

• Direct and supervise employees in the Accounting and Finance Department.
• Establishes and communicates policies and procedures for the department. 
• Implements controls to safeguard cash and other assets of the church. 
• Prepare and distribute the monthly financial reports, including ash flow projection and budget distribution reports for all departments. 
• Prepare annual financial budget for Budget Advisory Group's approval.
• Preparation of Annual Association Report.
• Prepare construction reports.
• Monthly reconcile multiple bank statements.
• Work closely with independent auditors in preparation and completion of annual audit. 
• Monthly reconcile multiple bank statements and oversee banking activity. 
• Interface with departmental directors to provide information, assistance and other services as it related to financial accounting. 
• Work closely with Payroll Clerk in making sure all payroll items are properly accounted for and recorded in the general ledger. 
• Responsible for accurate and timely payment of accounts payable and payment of tax liabilities. 
• Implement and oversee all purchasing procedures. 
• Ensure all credit card statements are recorded in general ledger.
