![]() Art Therapist Job Summary #CA-FT The Art Therapist guides patients to use self-expression and art making to explore loss, promote self-esteem, build autonomy, and cultivate developmentally appropriate coping skills. The Art Therapist has the skill and knowledge to conduct thorough assessments and implement developmentally and psychosocially appropriate art therapy interventions for pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients and their families. The Art Therapist must have the skills to provide emotional support, reflective listening, and therapeutic interventions during individual and/or group art therapy sessions while maintaining appropriate therapeutic relationships. Key Responsibilities
Department Overview Health care experiences and hospitalization can be hard for children and families. Our team works with patients, families, and the medical staff to provide services that meet the unique psychosocial and developmental needs of each child and family. Child Life and Creative Art Therapy services are offered in many different locations throughout UC Davis Children's Hospital; please view the 'Our Team' tab for more details on where you can find us. Department Specific Job Scope The Art Therapist 1 is a new professional with the skill and knowledge to conduct thorough assessments and implement developmentally and psychosocially appropriate art therapy interventions for pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients and their families. The Art Therapist must have the skills to provide emotional support, reflective listening, and therapeutic interventions during individual and/or group art therapy sessions while maintaining appropriate therapeutic relationships. Work Environment Has mandatory reporting responsibilities for domestic violence, child abuse and elder/dependent abuse. Ability to safely lift 25 pounds and assist in moving patients, and to stand on feet over extended periods. Works overtime as defined by the collective bargaining agreements, floats to other areas and works weekends and holidays. References reflect an overall meet or exceeds. Special Requirements
