The anticipated duration of this temporary assignment is approximately 6 months.
The selected candidate will provide direct support to the principal investigators of the UCSF Memory and Aging Center Community Outreach Program (COP). This individual will be required to perform efficient integration of multiple complex programmatic activities, effectively working with a variety of people and organizations at UCSF (investigators, finance administration, Committee on Human Research - CHR, human resources, contracts and grants) and elsewhere (industry sponsors, coordinating centers, FDA, NIH). This individual will also be part of a leadership team monitoring and resolving key operational aspects of observational studies and outreach and engagement activities in conjunction with local, national, and international project teams and in accordance with standard operating procedures and good clinical practice and regulations.
The selected candidate should be comfortable functioning as a team member with various levels of professional, administrative, and technical staff. This individual will analyze and resolve budgetary problems, interpret policies (e.g., fiscal management, HR, contracts and grants, resource management in defined areas) and demonstrate solid subject matter knowledge. They will need to exercise judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action, including assuring accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives.
In conjunction with the COP principal investigators, this candidate will oversee aspects of the administrative office; interact with university officials, faculty, staff and representatives from outside agencies; assist in the preparation and coordination of Federal and non-federal grant applications from idea inception to initial submission and annual progress reports; and prepare and track purchasing and payment authorizations. They will have input on staffing and project aims management to ensure proper execution of study objectives.
Key Responsibilities: - In conjunction with PI and pre-award analysts, administers and/or develops grant proposals, applications, and support documents.
- Assists in preparation of routine proposal budgets and support documents required by proposal guidelines.
- Analyzes expenses, develops cost projections, and assists with financial tracking and control.
- Interprets regulations and guidelines and prepares periodic reports.
- Supports the PI's analysts in the negotiation of terms and conditions of research agreements and awards from various sponsors.
- Under direct supervision, administratively reviews grant or contract proposals and budgets, obtains/verifies necessary compliance approvals, and recommends/negotiates needed changes to proposals with PIs and/or department administrators.
