Organization: In-Patient Nrs Practnrs 40Job Summary: Works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team. Provides direct medical care to patients requiring hospitalization. Has didactic education, clinical competency and national certification in identified area of clinical practice. Demonstrates medical knowledge, clinical judgment, technical competence, professionalism, interpersonal communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and is responsible for professional development and competency validation. Has an advanced knowledge of nursing theory and application. Evaluates the patient to be admitted, summarizes the clinical findings in a history and physical, places appropriate orders for inpatient or observation care and collaborates with the admitting physician for the plan of care. Using a patient centered approach to facilitate patient throughput, the NP positively impacts length of stay and contributes to efforts to increase efficiency in care delivery and discharge planning.. Department Summary The Pediatric Endocrinology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (NP or PA) works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team. The NP/PA provides care across the health care continuum. The NP/PA has didactic education, clinical competency and national certification in identified area of clinical practice. The NP will participate in the medical care of pediatric endocrinology patients in the acute care setting. The NP/PA will also serve on the Pediatric Inpatient Glucose Management Service, helping to monitor and supervise glucose control in patients who are using their home insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor (CGM) to independently regulate glucose levels while inpatient. The NP/PA works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary and physician team in the Department of Pediatrics using established and approved protocols as required by state law and institutional policy. They will be expected to work toward the attaining Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist designation from the American Diabetes Association. The NP/PA demonstrates medical knowledge, clinical judgment, technical competence, professionalism, interpersonal communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and is responsible for professional development and competency validation. Hours of inpatient service are 7am-4pm, weekdays and weekends. $15,000 Sign On Bonus for Candidates with 1 or More Years of Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Experience * The sign-on bonus is not applicable to current VUMC staff or former staff who have worked for VUMC in the past twelve months. The sign-on bonus is only available for full-time positions.
