![]() Director of Engagement, Alumni & Alumnae Relations Hobart William Smith Colleges Location: Geneva, NY Open Date: Feb 25, 2025 Description The Director is responsible for working with Advancement colleagues to develop, implement, and measure strategies to maintain and increase alumni/ae engagement across the Hobart and William Smith community. This includes collaborating to set and achieve annual goals from four modes of engagement based on the CASE Alumni Engagement Metrics (AEM) model: philanthropic, volunteer, experiential, and communication. They will focus on the development of programs designed to scale volunteerism and provide meaningful involvement for alumni/ae. In addition, they are responsible for working with key alumni/ae volunteer groups, including the Alumni and Alumnae Association leadership. The Director must be guided by principles of hard work, integrity, accountability for defined goals and objectives and a commitment to excellence. They will be held accountable for continuous improvement and industry best-practices, while respecting the Colleges' heritage, values, and mission of preparing students to lead lives of consequence. Essential Responsibilities
Other Information: This administrative position is full time (12 months/37.5 hours per week) and benefits eligible. Normal hours of work are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the academic year with a possible shortened workweek during the scheduled summer hours. Evening and weekend work is required. Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. This position description is not all-inclusive; other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned. Annual salary is $75,000. Qualifications 5-7 years of experience working in public relations or a related field of higher education development, alumni/ae relations, or communications. Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are required. Must be proactive, flexible, highly organized, detail-oriented, energetic, creative and able to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks at once. Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Demonstrated experience working in volunteer management. Solid aptitude for working with databases, Word, Excel and other e-resources is essential. Master's degree preferred or equivalent experience. Knowledge of Hobart of William Smith Colleges and their operations is preferred.
