Position Title:Assistant/Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture or Architecture with Partial Iowa State University Extension AppointmentAppointment Type:FacultyJob Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:The Departments of Architecture and Landscape Architecture in the College of Design and the Community and Economic Development (CED) unit of Extension and Outreach at Iowa State University (ISU) invite applications for multiple positions of tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in the area of Adaptive and Resilient Built and Natural Environments. Exceptional candidates with commensurate experience and proven track record may be considered for tenure and advanced rank of Associate Professor. Both academic departments and the CED seek qualified candidates for the start date of August 16, 2025, who demonstrate design, research, and engagement excellence in adaptive and resilient regional landscape systems, or with adaptive and resilient building systems, built environments and/or communities. Candidates must have a record of research and/or sustained creative activity or practice in adaptable and resilient built and/or natural environments. Successful candidates will be expected to shape the evolution of the Colleges approach to adaptable and resilient built and natural systems research, teaching and engagement and the relationship with our broader curriculum in the College of Design and engagement through ISU Extension and Outreach. They also must develop effective collaborations across the University in fields related to adaptable and resilient built and natural environments. Successful candidates will be expected to establish and sustain a world-class, externally funded research program focused on adaptive and resilient built and natural environments. They should contribute to scholarship, apply research through an active community engagement agenda, teach at graduate and undergraduate levels, and provide service to the institution and profession. Candidates must be prepared to teach design studios and courses related to their expertise and to advance the Cooperative Extension mission. Strong communication skills, a commitment to excellence, and potential for long-term leadership are essential. All faculty members are expected to exhibit and convey good citizenship within department, college and university activities, interact collegially and maintain the highest standards of integrity and ethical behavior.
