DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW The Department of Performance, Play & Design (PPD) is a multi-disciplinary, academic unit of the University of California Santa Cruz. It houses three degree-granting programs in Theater Arts, Dance, and Games & Playable Media. As part of the curriculum, the Department supports productions of plays, dance concerts, and other performances and installations. More information can be found at : https://play.ucsc.edu/ JOB SUMMARY Under general direction of the Operations and Facilities Manager, the incumbent will supervise all costume personnel (includes Wardrobe Technician as well as student employees and Theater - 50 students) and facilities. The Costume Shop Manager (with faculty) supervises all student designers in shop. Incumbent makes recommendations to designers regarding reuse of materials and existing stock items as well as providing collaborative input to all designers. The Costume Shop Manager creates original costume, millinery and costume property designs when needed as well as consultative support to all designs in the costume shop. Incumbent is responsible for all operations of the Theater Arts Costume Shop, dressing rooms and stock facilities. This includes all production support as well as planning, organization and maintenance of storage facilities and costume stock. Responsible for oversight of all makeup and hair used in departmental productions including providing advisory instruction to actors and production wardrobe staff. APPOINTMENT INFORMATION Budgeted Salary: $33.10 - $36.26 / hourly. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience. Under California law, the University of California, Santa Cruz is required to post a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. The salary shown above is the budgeted amount the University reasonably expects to pay and the salary extended should not exceed this posted amount.
