Transfusion Medicine Pathologist
HNL Lab Medicine
HNL Lab Medicine is seeking a full-time Transfusion Medicine Specialist with fellowship training and board certification/eligibility in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine (BB/TM). Applicants must have an MD or DO degree, strong knowledge and skill set in all aspects of transfusion medicine including immunohematology, consultative hemotherapy, apheresis/exchange, hematopoietic progenitor cell and mononuclear cell collection and processing, cellular therapy, coagulation, and regulatory compliance. HNL Lab Medicine provides supervision of blood banks/transfusion services and cellular apheresis services, including to provide collection for hematopoietic progenitor cell transplantation and lymphocytes for CAR T-cell manufacturing, for patients treated within the Lehigh Valley Health Network, now proudly a part of Jefferson Health. The successful candidate will join two experienced Transfusion Medicine physicians and share responsibilities including on call. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Shared oversight and support of a network of blood banks that provide services, compatibility testing and dispense >32,000 blood components for transfusion at our affiliated LVHN hospitals with a combined capacity of >2,000 beds, Level 1-4 Trauma Centers, busy Cancer Centers, and Ambulatory Surgery Centers.

Required skills: Candidate must have the ability to interpret immunohematology, coagulation and other laboratory findings, write clear clinical reports summarizing analyses, results and conclusions and be able to communicate findings and appropriate hemotherapy recommendations to clinical colleagues. The selected candidate must have excellent communication skills. Candidate must have understanding and familiarity with the practice of and regulatory requirements and standards that apply to blood bank and transfusion services, apheresis, mononuclear cell collections and cellular therapy programs. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The ideal candidate will have at least 1-2 years of experience beyond BB/TM fellowship. However, qualified BB/TM fellows are encouraged to apply. Education MD or DO degree with successful licensure through completion of USMLE or COMLEX or equivalent (e.g. MBBS).
