The top-performing Maryland school system is seeking an innovative, engaging instructional leader who is a passionate advocate for children, has demonstrated success in improving student achievement, and can build consensus through effective communication while representing the fiscal needs of the system. 

Worcester County Public Schools is a high-achieving, rural public school system on the beautiful eastern shore of Maryland. The school system serves approximately 7,000 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade at 12 community-based schools, with two schools serving the entire county: Worcester Technical High School and Cedar Chapel Special School.

• A consensus builder who will communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, the Board of Education, other elected officials, the Maryland State Department of Education, and the Accountability and Implementation Board.

• A leader who is able to build support for the public schools; and will be visible and engaged in the Worcester County schools and community.

• An ethical leader who demonstrates integrity, transparency, and a commitment to student-centered decision making.

• An instructional leader with an extensive background in curriculum, instruction, and extra/co-curricular activities; experience increasing rigor for all student populations; and an understanding of the implementation of the Blueprint for Maryland's Future.

• A decisive leader who has system-wide experience with budget, finance, technology, and school construction; is successful working with and supporting central and school-based staff; and has collective bargaining experience.
