The President-UCSF Health Network (P-UCSFHN) directs and manages all UCSF Health Network sites and affiliations. The UCSF Health Network is one of four UCSF Health Business Units, that together comprise UCSF Health as a whole. Duties include oversight of access, quality, patient experience, and financial performance of the Network Business Unit. The President collaborates with UCSF Health enterprise leaders in the duties of financial management, budgeting, staffing, reporting, compliance, monitoring, and all related day-to-day functions of the UCSF Network; the role also works closely with the Chief Strategy Officer who is responsible for growth and development of the Network. Responsible for ensuring high quality and safe care delivery as well as leading the patient and family experience and clinician and staff engagement, this position will coordinate to ensure effective utilization of personnel and financial resources and execute policy formulated by the UCSF Health Leadership Council. Within the Network Business Unit, the President is responsible for the overall performance and strategy of the Community Hospital Division, the Ambulatory Division, the Foundation, and the Affiliate network. The Community Hospital Division includes two recently acquired hospitals in San Francisco, St. Francis Hospital and Saint Mary's Medical Center. Located near Nob Hill, Saint Francis is home to the Bothin Burn Center, Saint Francis Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Institute and Center for Pain Management, among other specialty care facilities. UCSF Health St. Mary's Hospital is a full-service hospital across the street from Golden Gate Park. This location has a cardiac catheterization laboratory, orthopedic and spine care, a cancer center, surgery services and physical rehab and therapy programs, among other specialty services. The Ambulatory Division is comprised of multiple outpatient sites throughout the Bay Area, inclusive of physician clinics (such as the Berkeley Outpatient Center), ambulatory surgery centers and other ambulatory locations. The UCSF Health Medical Foundation is affiliated with the network and staffs non-hospital clinics, including a network of Urgent Care sites, throughout the Bay Area.
The President-UCSF Health Network (P-UCSFHN) also develops and manages the UCSF Health Affiliates Network, which includes a clinically integrated network of affiliated community-based physicians throughout the greater San Francisco Bay Area. The Affiliates network includes hospitals, physician organizations, a health plan, a development company, joint ventures and outpatient centers, to deliver the right care in the right places at the right time, ensuring that no one in the Bay Area needs to travel far for access to UCSF care. The P-UCSFHN will ensure successful implementation of health affiliations while establishing consistent clinical standards as appropriate, and operations such as IT interfaces, branding/marketing and patient experience between UCSF Health and affiliates.
The P-UCSFHN is a core member of the UCSF Health leadership team, serving as a member of the System's Leadership Council which reviews and shapes Health System policies, aligning strategic priorities with System goals and objectives, and adjudicating complex and large-scale issues that the System faces. This position carries significant UCSF Health organizational responsibility, accountability and authority for framing positive public perception of UCSF Health in a highly competitive, scrutinized and political arena.
Under the direction of the UCSF Health President/Chief Executive Officer, the P-UCSFHN collaborates closely with the Chief Strategy Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Clinical Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, the Chairman of UCSF Health/Dean of the UCSF SOM, the Clinical Department Chairs of the UCSF SOM, other leaders of the UCSF Health system, and leaders of affiliated entities to serve as the primary resource for the system and accountable executive for affiliates. Engages in a wide variety of issues, including relationship development, network development, strategic planning, strategic evaluation of business plans, affiliations/joint ventures/acquisitions, affiliate integration, oversight for all affiliate operations and budgets, and other duties.
The P-UCSFHN plays a key role in supporting the organization's Lean cultural transformation through leading by example with the Lean guiding principles. The incumbent serves as a representative of the Health System to other UC and UCSF entities and at the Office of the President.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. The anticipated base salary for this role is expected to be within $725,000-$825,000.
