JOB TITLE: Educational Technology Specialist

REPORTS TO: Technology Integration Specialist

DIRECTLY SUPERVISES: None

STATUS: Salary, 40 hours/week, Non-Exempt, 12-month contract

JOB SUMMARY: The Educational Technology Specialist will support and enhance instructional and assistive technology integration in the lower and middle school. The ideal candidate has experience with assistive technology, teaching digital literacy, training faculty in instructional technology, leading parent education seminars, and providing basic IT support to students. This is a new position for the school and will grow and evolve as technology continues to change.  This position will play a critical role in partnering with the students, faculty, staff, and the Technology Integration Specialist.

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES (Including Physical Function):

• Commitment to Briarwood’s mission, purpose, and culture.
• Strive to inspire a love of the field of study in students.
• Partner proactively with faculty and administration to support students with Dyslexia and LD and teachers in their efforts to advance students with learning differences.
• Ensure that all students support initiatives that align with the school’s mission and values.
• Develop and deliver engaging technology instruction that integrates social skills, digital citizenship, and essential educational tools.
• Teach digital literacy classes to lower and middle school students.
• Provide resources that meet the research, educational, and recreational needs of students.
• Collaborate with the Technology Integration Specialist and others in the IT department to train teachers in technology applications.
• Monitor student progress, ensure responsible technology use, and support mastery of specified standards.
• Assist with troubleshooting student Chromebooks, laptops, and classroom technology.
• Support classroom integration of tools such as interactive whiteboards, tablets, and educational software.
• Assess current software and subscriptions, researching new options as needed.
• Oversee the student use of Google Classroom and Google Workspace.
• Assist the IT department in updating technology-related policies.
• Lead virtual webinars for parents on relevant technology topics.
• Represent the school at educational conferences and associations.
• Participate in any accreditation process for the school.
• Attend all staff meetings and staff retreats.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Technology Integration Specialist or the Head of School.
