Office of Auditing and Performance Analysis: The Office of Auditing and Performance Analysis (APA) is responsible for technical reviews in all industries, and may include financial, compliance, management, and operational analyses. The APA analysts conduct reviews of utility-related records and data, and they provide independent verification of utility filings and statements. Description of Job Duties: The Professional Accountant Specialist position is located within the Financial Review Section of the Office of Auditing and Performance Analysis. This position will be tasked with performing primarily financial audits of utility companies of varying complexity. The position will assist the supervisor with review of work papers to assure compliance with audit standards and other authoritative sources as needed. This position will work on audits individually or as a team member. Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting. Special consideration will be given to applicants who have knowledge of cost allocations, accounting standards and auditing standards. Special consideration will be given to applicants who have experience auditing utilities in the Electric, Gas, and Water/Wastewater industry with the Florida Public Service Commission. Background investigations, including criminal history record checks and education verification's, will be conducted on all applicants recommended for hiring. Civil Service Law requires all males born after December 31, 1959, to register with the Selective Service System unless they meet certain exemptions under the law. Failing to register when required makes one ineligible for appointment. Preference in appointment and employment shall be given to veterans and other persons as required by Chapter 295, Florida Statutes, Veterans’ Law.
