Assistant Director Student Health Education

The Assistant Director of Student Health Promotion develops, coordinates, and implements campus-wide health programs. Provides outreach education and programming on assigned health topics for students and the campus community. Manages the ongoing assessment and evaluation of programs in this area. Trains, manages, supervises, and evaluates student staff, interns, and/or peer educators in designated programmatic areas. Develops, coordinates, implements and evaluates campus wide health education programs that affect health behaviors. Supports academic success using population-based data for assigned programmatic area (e.g. mental health, alcohol, substance use, etc.,). Participates in the Division of Student Life committees related to health and wellbeing. Advocates for policies that support campus and community health both individually, student groups, and the campus community through the department. Assists with advocating changes through the appropriate channels. Collaborates and engages with interdisciplinary partner units within the Division of Student Life’s initiatives and Academic Affairs to advance the health and wellbeing of students. Leads the development and implementation of campus-wide assessments to determine health needs, assets, and priorities of the department and evaluation strategies for each program. Provides direct supervision to at least one professional staff member within the department and works as the main liaison to academic units on campus to coordinate requested experiential learning/applied practicums in the department. Participates in strategic planning for the department. Supports and leads signature health promotion events as assigned. Leads and participate in interdisciplinary initiatives within the Department of Health Promotion and Wellness, the Division of Student Life, and externally across the campus community. Completes required training that is related to laws and regulations, that creates a more hospitable and respectful workplace, and safer work environment. Holding staff accountable for completion of required training. Has personal accountability for financial reporting and responsibility for establishing, enforcing, and following internal processes and controls as outlined in UA policies and procedures.

Master's degree or higher in Health Education, Public Health, Health Promotion, Health Science, or similar field. Two (2) or more years of progressive responsibility in health promotion or related field. Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). |
