Lower School Librarian

The Holton-Arms School seeks a collaborative, flexible, and enthusiastic Lower School Librarian to join our robust Technology, Information, and Libraries (TIL) Team and support Lower School programming for the 2025-26 school year. This is a full-time 10-month position.

Position Overview

The goal of the Library Program is to provide access to the best resources and instruction in their use, fostering the development of lifelong learners and readers. The program is integrated into the curriculum at all grade levels and subject areas. Holton librarians work with Lower, Middle, and Upper School students individually and in scheduled classes to help them foster a love of literature, acquire research skills, develop information literacy, and become sophisticated consumers of rapidly expanding information sources and technologies.

Holton-Arms School seeks a dynamic and forward-thinking Lower School Librarian to manage and enrich the library experience for students in grades 3-6. This role blends traditional library responsibilities with innovative educational practices to create a vibrant, inclusive, and interactive learning environment.The ideal candidate will inspire a love for reading, support digital literacy, and collaborate with educators to enhance student learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Library Administrator: Create a welcoming library space, develop the library's collection, and utilize Follett Destiny to track inventory, catalog resources, and manage circulation.
• Foster a love of reading through engaging library programming, such as author visits, reading contests and challenges, literacy-themed celebrations, book talks, reading clubs, and library displays.
• Instructional Support and Faculty Collaboration: Teach information literacy skills, research skills, and digital citizenship, lead library orientations, and collaborate with teachers to develop lesson plans and support students during the research process.
• Guide students and staff in effectively using online databases, e-books, audiobooks and other digital library resources.
• Teaching responsibilities: Teach Lower School Library Classes (Grades 3-6) including skills such as citations, web searches, and using databases.
• Build partnerships with community organizations, local libraries, and authors to enrich the library’s programs and resources.
• Lead library orientations and workshops to promote library services and resources.
• Participate in grade-level meetings and curriculum planning sessions to ensure library services support instructional goals.
• Provide curated book lists, digital tools, and research materials that align with classroom units.
• Stay informed about educational technology trends and introduce digital tools and platforms that enhance learning and research.
