Compensation: Antioch University offers a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes both direct and indirect pay. The compensation will be based on experience, education, knowledge, credentials, and a consideration of the difficulty and complexity of the position. The minimum salary for this position based on residential location is: CA $73,150.00, WA $71,555.00, Other locations: $66,500.00
The School of Counseling, Psychology, and Therapy (CPT) at Antioch University invites applications for a position as a full-time Core Faculty member and Program Director appointment for the low residency Couples and Family Therapy (CFT) Program Director.
Antioch University Master of Arts in Couple and Family Therapy (CFT) provides students with the training and clinical experience necessary to become licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs). Our students develop the knowledge, skills, self-awareness, and clinical competencies as marriage and family therapists (MFTs) in alignment with professional and national standards to work with children and adults individually or as part of a relational system. Students graduate with the ability to provide ethical, skills, socially just, and anti-racist couple and family therapist to a diverse array of clients.
The masters and doctoral education are delivered by a low residency model. Faculty engage with students both in-person at residencies and online throughout the remainder of the semester. Faculty are expected to travel to residencies each semester. Within the CFT MA degree, students are able to specialize in one of two cutting edge fields - art therapy or dance movement therapy - and/or obtain certifications in coveted areas such as play therapy, sex therapy, gender affirming clinical practice, art therapy, sexuality education, trauma informed practice, and addiction studies. Values of ethical practice, social responsibility, anti-racism, and cultural diversity are central part of the CFT curricula, and students receive a balance of traditional and contemporary perspectives in the MFT field.

Primary Responsibilities
Antioch University CFT Core Faculty members engage in teaching, research, institutional citizenship, and service. The successful applicant will be responsible for directing the CFT Master’s program which includes teaching graduate courses, supervising students’ clinical training, and coordinating with the certificate programs. This position is full time (100% FTE).
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Core Faculty have a direct instruction requirement of 18 semester units per year. Course assignments will be made annually in consultation with the CFT Chair considering individual and program needs. The Program Director is eligible for annual course release from 3 to 9 credits and a $3,500 stipend reviewed annually.
- Advise up to 15 students in the CFT program, including the assessment of academic progress and assistance with arrangements for non-curricular resources (internships, independent studies, etc.), help with other aspects of the students’ relationship with the educational environment at the University, and completion of final reviews related to graduation
- As the Program Director of the CFT Master’s program, you will:
- Coordinate residencies for the CFT Master’s Program
- Manage the admissions process for student applicants, conduct interviews with applicants, make recommendations regarding individual admissions decisions, and follow up with situations involving conditional admissions which require additional monitoring
- Participate in curriculum development related to the CFT Master’s program
- Participate in specific program development efforts such as accreditation, outcomes, and marketing
- Develop and coordinate program related training initiatives as assigned by the program chair.
- Serve as Teaching Liaison for various content areas in the CFT Program curriculum to ensure quality of teaching and assist in problem resolution. Liaison activities may include recruiting adjunct faculty in specific content areas, consulting on syllabus development, monitoring mid-term and final course evaluations, providing feedback to adjunct faculty about quality of teaching, and providing consultation for problematic student situations.
- Participate in scheduled department, faculty, and program meetings and retreats to discuss implementation of policy and procedures, development of strategic objectives and directions, and topics in teaching/advising, student standards, adjunct faculty relations, accreditation, and curriculum development.
- Serve on University special committees, task forces, and campus-wide faculty leadership; attend all-community events.
- Actively engage in scholarship, professional dialogue, and community service by contributing to the creation and sharing of knowledge in scholarly research and writing, community outreach, and dialogue with peers and colleagues in the field of marriage and family therapy and in the broader educational community.
- Participate in activities for professional development (conferences, seminars, workshops, courses) as relevant to areas of special expertise and interest.
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from a regionally accredited institution;
- AAMFT Approved Supervisor or AAMFT Supervisor Candidate;
- Licensed or licensed eligible as a marriage and family therapist;
- An academic background suitable to a program committed to progressive education, diversity, anti-racism and anti-oppression, social justice, and community engagement;
- Minimum of 4 years of experience teaching in graduate programs;
- Program leadership experience;
- Identify professionally primarily as a Marriage and Family Therapist, as demonstrated by adopting the AAMFT Code of Ethics as a guide for professional conduct and membership in systemically-oriented organizations, including AAMFT, and/or demonstrating relational identities in work or other environments;
- At least one published article in a peer reviewed journal and any combination of book chapters, books, or presentations at professional academic conferences;
- Commitment to anti-racist principles in teaching and clinical work with demonstrated ability to incorporate those principles into teaching, supervision, course development, and research.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience directing a C/MFT program
- Ability to complement and build on existing strengths within the division and will be eager to interact with students and faculty from the broader Antioch community.
- Commitment to and proven history of incorporating social justice and multicultural frameworks in teaching, clinical work, and research.
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- couple and family therapy research and assessment.
- social justice theories pertaining to systemic therapy.
- research and/or clinical work focusing on social justice and multicultural issues, sexology, and/or systemic therapy.
- online or low-residency instruction experience.
- competency-based assessment experience.
- interest or experience in experiential education and remote learning pedagogical methods.
- interest and/or experience in training supervisors.
- Program/certificate development, administration, and/or leadership in a COAMFTE-accredited graduate program.
