PLEASE NOTE: The starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $4,598.00 per month to $5,200.00 per month.

About the Position

Under the direct supervision of the Director, Career Empowerment Center, the Experiential Learning Coordinator supports the development and implementation of experiential learning opportunities, internship programs, and on-campus employment at Cal State East Bay. This role helps connect students with both short and long-term work experiences (including virtual experiences and simulations) that complement their classroom learning and assists with student employment initiatives. The coordinator works collaboratively with staff, faculty, and community partners to promote experiential learning opportunities for Cal State East Bay students. 

Responsibilities

Student Career Development Support:

• Coordinate with Lead Internship Coordinator & Sr. Career Counselor to guide students through the on-campus employment, internship and job search process, helping them identify opportunities aligned with their academic and career goals.
• Support the development and delivery of workshops on topics such as resume writing, internship search strategies, and workplace success skills.
• Support the development of student employment training materials and assist with basic onboarding processes.
• Review internship agreements and documentation, ensuring compliance with university policies.
• Provide basic support to faculty and staff regarding internship programs and student employment processes.
• Create and update informational materials about on and off-campus internships for the Career Center website and social media channels.
• Collect and organize data about student participation in internships and employment programs.
• Participate in department meetings and professional development activities to stay current with career development trends and best practices.

Employer Engagement:

• Support the development of innovative short-term experiences (job shadowing, site visits, etc.) for students working closely with our employer partners.
• Help coordinate internship fairs and recruitment events, both in-person and virtual, including employer outreach and event logistics.
• Maintain regular communication with campus partners, including academic departments and student organizations, to promote experiential learning opportunities.
• Contribute to outreach efforts to build relationships with potential internship employers in the SF Bay area.
• Assist in maintaining the Career Center's online internship and job posting platform (Handshake), ensuring opportunities are current and appropriate for Cal State East Bay students.

Other Duties as Assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
• General knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

• One (1) year of relevant experience.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to plan, coordinate and initiate actions necessary to implement events.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to reason logically, analyze and define organizational and operating problems and implement appropriate responses.
• Ability to work independently.
• Proficiency with current social media platforms.
• Knowledge of technical applications necessary for the functions of the office (e.g. internet browsers/search engines, word processing software, Excel, Google suite, etc.).
• Ability to lift up to 10 lbs to carry event materials.
• Ability to foster and maintain productive and positive working relationships.

Special Working Conditions

• Ability to work on evenings and weekends when needed. 
• Events will include outdoor activities.
• Automobile travel may be necessary. 
• Must possess a valid California driver’s license and comply with the Defensive Drivers Training program requirements if a vehicle is used to travel on official business.

Condition(s) of Employment

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including LiveScan, as appropriate), that may include, but is not limited to: criminal records check, verification of academic credentials, licenses, certificates, credit history, professional references and/or verification of work history is required for employment.  Cal State East Bay will issue a conditional offer of employment to the selected candidate, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Unsatisfactory results may also affect the continued employment of current Cal State East Bay employees who were conditionally offered the position.

All background checks are conducted through the university's third party vendor, Accurate. LiveScan is conducted through the University Police Department.
