Program Officer (Researcher), Multilateral Reform Program

The Center on International Cooperation (CIC) at New York University seeks a Program Officer (Researcher) to independently produce research at a high-quality level, under supervision of the Program Director Multilateral Reform Program and Director Justice and Inequality or senior program staff. The Program Officer, under the guidance of the Program Director, takes a lead role in the development and drafting of reports, fact sheets, project proposals and other written publications. The Program Officer is also able to develop programmatic objectives and strategies; manage various, discrete aspects of program development and implementation, problem solve, maintain knowledge-based research networks and contacts, and identify new frontiers of knowledge and funding sources. The program officer is able to conceive high level, innovative approaches to engage stakeholders, independently put together high-level events and manage workflows. Responsibilities
The Program Officer reports to the Program Director Multilateral Reform and Program Director Justice and Inequality and keeps them closely informed of efforts and progress.

Required Education ? A master?s degree with minimum 7 years of relevant experience. Experience in lieu of education may be considered. Required Experience ? 7 or more years of relevant work experience, including within the government, non-government and multilateral sectors. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities ? Experience and detailed understanding of the inner workings of the United Nations including the UN Security Council, UN General Assembly and Executive Office of the Secretary General ? Experience with relevant research and practice in the areas of multilateral reform, financing for development, crisis prevention or the promotion of peace, justice and inclusion. ? Experience in managing relations with high level government counterparts, senior UN staff and civil society representatives. ? Experience in research, writing and analysis; experience with literature reviews. ? Experience in planning, scheduling, and organizing meetings, including high-level meetings. ? Drafting and preparing briefing notes and records of high-level meetings. ? Experience providing support to senior managers/directors and high-level officials. ? Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills, demonstrated strong collaboration skills, and high level of discretion in dealing with confidential information. ? Previous experience working in culturally diverse settings or international organizations. ? Demonstrable evidence of leading research projects, including on research design, execution, and write-up. ? Demonstrable evidence of successful experience managing programs, including design, budgeting, reporting, and other administrative tasks. ? A proclivity for problem-solving and interest in finding solutions, a professional and team-player attitude, working respectfully and productively with colleagues, both within and across teams, with a positive approach and a growth mindset. ? Ability to undertake travel, including under sometimes challenging circumstances. ? Takes accountability for all aspects of assigned work and proactively seeks out guidance where needed. Preferred Experience ? Experience in or knowledge of CIC research areas, as well as knowledge of/experience with national and subnational governments, the United Nations, and other multilateral organizations. ? Experience in working with different types of stakeholders and at different levels. ? Experience in conveying complicated, nuanced and substantive research, policy work and programmatic priorities to partners and diverse stakeholder groups. ? A history of prioritizing across a wide range of assignments and consistently delivering at a high level of quality in high pressure, fast-paced environments Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities ? Fluency in another UN language is required. Other non-UN languages are considered an asset. ? Excellent time management and organization skills. ? Ability to perform under minimal supervision and adapt. ? Excellent, interpersonal, and written as well as oral communication skills. ? Ability to negotiate solutions and problem solve; high degree of initiative, reliability, and resourcefulness. ? Demonstrate sound judgment, and ability to make time-sensitive decisions and take appropriate action. ? Good understanding of protocol working with UN senior officials, Ambassadors, and senior government officials. ? High level of proficiency in office technology including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Dropbox, and Slack
Additional Information In compliance with NYC?s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $67,275 to $93,150. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
