Organization: VUH Inpatient Cardiac StepdownJob Summary: Join an APP team dedicated to caring for all types of step-down General Cardiology patients and broaden your experience in all things Cardiology! The Cardiology Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team. Role is day shift only -three days per week, rotating weekends and holidays. The APP will serve as the primary admitting service for various cardiology diagnoses including but not limited to chest pain, hypertension, MI, electrophysiology issues and heart failure. Activities include rounding daily with Attending Cardiologist, admission and discharge, ED patient evaluation, and performing Cardiology consults for select inpatient Medicine patients. The APP provides comprehensive cardiology care for medical cardiology patients. The APP has didactic education, clinical competency and national certification in an identified area of clinical practice -Acute Care certification is required for NP's.The APP demonstrates medical knowledge, clinical judgment, technical competence, professionalism, interpersonal communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and is responsible for professional development and competency validation. The Cardiology Nurse Practitioner (NP) works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team. The NP provides healthcare in cardiac ambulatory specialty care and cardiac acute care health care settings. The NP provides comprehensive cardiology care ranging from medical to surgical cardiac conditions. The NP has didactic education, clinical competency and national certification in identified area of clinical practice. The NP demonstrates medical knowledge, clinical judgment, technical competence, professionalism, interpersonal communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and is responsible for professional development and competency validation. The NP has an advanced knowledge of nursing theory and application. . Position Hours
Department Summary Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute knows how to care for patients' unique hearts. Our team includes some of the top heart and vascular specialists in the nation. We care for adult patients aged 18 years and older who are being treated for various cardiovascular disorders such as aneurysms and amputations, as well as patients with congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, VT ablations, atrial fibrillation cardioversions, chest pain, pre and post-op catheterizations, and pre and post-op cardiothoracic surgeries. Our cardiac patients' diagnoses range from STEMIs, CHF exacerbations, pacemaker exchanges, and transplant workups. Vascular surgeries include pre-and post-operative care for Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts.
