Available Title(s): 158-NN_FACULTY - Teaching Assistant Professor - Career, 159-NN_FACULTY - Teaching Associate Professor - Career, 396-NN_FACULTY - New Teaching Track - Pre-Academic Year Business Title: Teaching Assistant or Associate Professor - Career Track Employee Type: Faculty (+) (Fixed Term) Position Term: 9 Month - Summer Position Details: The Opportunity: The Department of Anthropology at Washington State University (WSU) invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor (Career Track, Teaching Sub-Track), Career track faculty position in Pullman, WA, with a specialty in teaching undergraduate courses in cultural and general four-field anthropology. This position is a fixed-term, nine-month, three-year appointment with possibility of renewal. We seek applicants who are committed to offering high-quality anthropology courses to our majors and to students from across the university. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will begin the appointment on August 16, 2025. Job duties: Our new colleague will teach four courses each semester and engage in service to the unit and institution. Courses are taught in-person on the Pullman campus, with the potential of teaching a course or courses via WSU's Global campus. The workload for this position is 80% teaching and 20% service. This position will serve on the Pullman campus, which has an enrollment of around 20,000 students and is located in Southeastern Washington on the homelands of the Nimiipuu (Nez Perce) Tribe and Palus people. Located 80 miles south of metropolitan Spokane, Pullman is also a quick drive away from the scenic Idaho panhandle and Moscow Mountain. Anthropology's sixteen faculty conduct research, support courses and mentorship, and provide service at WSU's campuses in Pullman, Vancouver, and the Tri-Cities. The department offers the BA at WSU's Pullman and Vancouver campuses, and to its Global campus, and teaches courses in support of a minor and certificate in American Indian Studies. Partnering with the School of Biological Sciences, we also offer a BA in Human Biology at Pullman and Vancouver. With faculty and specialties and graduate degree tracks in cultural anthropology, biological anthropology, and archaeology, the department offers the M.A. and Ph.D. in anthropology in each of these areas of emphasis, supporting a graduate program with approximately thirty-five students.
