Education Technology Specialist

Job Summary

As a member of the curriculum and technology team, Education Technology Specialist partners with leadership, faculty, and staff to provide curriculum services for all SON academic programs, currently including, PhD, DNP-FNP, DNP-NA, MEPN and MHS-PA programs. This position leads the implementation of education technologies in the curriculum, manages the administration of the LMS, and supports individual course development.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
Minimum of three years in higher education setting.
Demonstrated experience with Canvas LMS in higher education setting
Experience with or willingness to learn HTML/CSS, JavaScript and API development.
Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG, ADA)
Experience with or willingness to learn cloud-based data, document, and automation environments (e.g. Power BI, Power Automate, and SharePoint.
Advanced knowledge of educational software and technologies to promote a wide range of goals. Demonstrated ability to analyze and seek solutions to enhance the user experience.
Demonstrated analytical skills in a complex digital learning environment in order to assess program needs, recognize opportunities, and to develop and monitor project timelines for course implementation.
Demonstrated effective listening and communication skills to meet project goals with multiple stakeholders. Experience to assess present and future needs, and to participate in project planning.
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to address unique problems without precedent and/or structure. Ability to evaluate and solve problems with a high degree of autonomy.
Demonstrated outstanding typing and computer skills. Experience to produce high quality work using software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Demonstrated technical skills to provide basic troubleshooting support for computer and other standard electronic equipment used in teaching and testing circumstances.
Demonstrated professional interpersonal skills to communicate in a pleasant, tactful, and effective manner and to relay information accurately.
Must be sensitive to highly confidential information to maintain strict confidentiality.
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders with varying levels of educational and/or technology experience.
Strong interpersonal skills. Actively cooperates and supports the work of others. Ability to work productively with anyone regardless of background. Empathetic and aware of impact on others. Strong problem solving skills to assist learners and resolve issues.
Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders within and outside of the organization. Successful experience working with people with a wide range of backgrounds and skills.
Proven initiative to work independently and as part of a team under multiple deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in related area preferred
Experience developing and implementing complex programs and/or processes. Experience improving educational program efficiency and effectiveness preferred.
Experience with artificial intelligence in the education setting. Able to train faculty & staff on the proper use and knowledge of tools to detect improper use.
Experience with in-person and online curriculum.
Knowledge and commitment to UC Affirmative Action policies and procedures, specifically related to recruitment & retention of graduate students from traditionally under-represented groups.
Knowledge of nursing education programs and support requirements sufficient to organize resources to implement teaching activities.

Work Environment
