ABOUT THE POSITION The Dean of Health Science provides administrative management and leadership for the Division of Health Sciences in the Academic Affairs Division of the college. This currently includes programs in Dental Hygiene, Exercise Science, Public Health, Healthcare System Technology, Community Health Worker Navigator, and Nursing. The Dean of Health Sciences serves on the Deans’ Council and Administrative Council, and reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs. The Dean of Health Sciences works in a collaborative manner to provide leadership and management in planning, accreditation, curriculum development, faculty support, student support, internal and external communication, scheduling, budgeting, hiring, and infrastructure. This position involves collaboration with higher education partners, health care industry and workforce partners, and regional K-12 partners on joint efforts to support the programs in the portfolio of the division. The dean also leads and manages healthcare related opportunities with the college’s Continuing Education and Customized Training (CECT) division to build our regional market service and responsiveness to workforce needs The position requires the ability to establish and maintain productive, collegial and professional working relationships with the college community and the college partners in the service area. A thorough understanding of budgeting, supervision, faculty support, evaluation, short- and long-term planning, and the post-secondary education environment is needed along with an understanding of the academic disciplines represented in the division. The Dean of Health Sciences will directly contribute through individual and divisional efforts to meet the college’s strategic goals, which include achieving racial equity in educational outcomes, achieving associate degree or baccalaureate transfer completion rate of 50% or better for degree-seeking students, and supporting and sustaining a pervasive institutional culture that is culturally responsive and service oriented.
