Chief Financial Officer
Major Rural Critical Access Hospital
Position Summary: The Chief Financial Officer administers, directs, monitors and coordinates all financial service activities for hospital and clinics in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles related to the healthcare industry. The CFO will provide management expertise in patient financial services, accounting, reimbursement, statistical and financial analysis, and uses this expertise in assisting executives, directors and department managers in making decisions with financial impact.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Reporting directly to the President and CEO, this position directs all aspects of financial management, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and financial reporting for the organization. 2) Ensures accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, in addition to financial reporting to debt holders. 3) Manages financial risks, including cash flow management, investment decisions and insurance strategies, to ensure the long-term sustainability of the organization. 4) Oversees the planning, development, coordination, implementation, evaluation, and direction of the Hospital’s Financial Services Division (Patient Access, Coding, HIM, Patient Financial Services) including the hiring, supervision, scheduling & evaluation of assigned staff. 5) Oversees the planning, development, coordination, implementation, evaluation, and direction of the Hospital’s Technical Services Division (Facilities and Environmental Services) including the hiring, supervision, scheduling & evaluation of assigned staff. 6) Oversees the planning, development, coordination, implementation, evaluation, and direction of the Hospital’s supply chain function (Materials Management, Laundry, excludes dietary) including the hiring, supervision, scheduling & evaluation of assigned staff. 7) Supports the executive team with data, data analysis and forecasts for use in decision making. 8) Supports departmental and organizational-wide efforts related to operational excellence and associated continuous improvement (quality, process, etc.) efforts.

Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree with a major or minor in accounting from an accredited institution required. Master of Accountancy degree preferred. • Certified Public Accountant strongly preferred. • Five (5) years of accounting experience with an emphasis on GAAP reporting required. • Five (5) years of supervisory/management experience required. • Critical access hospital experience strongly preferred. |
