March 17, 2025 at 11:59 PMABOUT THE POSITION Under limited supervision, the Career and Technical Education Specialist will lead the college?s career and technical education initiatives and supporting activities to increase enrollment in career and technical education (CTE) pathways in support of the college?s strategic framework, equity goals, and being a student-ready campus.This is a large and complex combination of programs and indirect student supports. Normandale offers AS and AAS degrees and certificates in 14 career and technical disciplines. In AY2023, over 45% of the 1,370 degrees and certificates awarded by the college were career and technical. In the spring 2024 term, 25% of the over 25,000 total seats sold were in CTE courses. This position is essential to positioning the college as a leader in developing elementary education and special education instructors, especially those of color; and in producing graduates in current and emerging health sciences and STEM fields.This position:Establishes this business unit?s goals and work plans.Establishes and oversees operating procedures and processes for all functions.Develops and administers the college?s $500,000 - $600,000 annual Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (aka the ?Carl Perkins? or ?Perkins?) grant budget.Provides lead work direction to 1 FTE @ MAPE 2 position and 1 FTE AFSCME position.Minimum QualificationsMust have two (2) years of career and technical education experience oran equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor?s degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for one (1) year of experience. Budget management experience. Ability to analyze data and appropriately use it in decision making. Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders to successfully develop and execute initiatives or projects.Ability to develop and deliver clear presentations to all levels in an organization. Ability to write clear plans and reports to satisfy external agencies? and other stakeholders? requirements.Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Preferred QualificationMaster?s degree in higher education, business, or other relevant field from an accredited college or university.Perkins grant management experience.Experience managing an annual budget of $50,000 or more.
