| Job Description Scope of Position: The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Gift Shop is a service organization to patients, visitors and staff of the Medical Center, helping to increase the reputation and overall satisfaction of the Medical Center. It provides a highly visible ?hotel service? to internal and external audiences. This position is focused on helping the organization achieve its goals through strategic leadership in the discipline of retail, merchandising, and customer service. The Gift Shop generates over three million dollars in revenue annually. The gift shop offers a full line of merchandise including gifts, clothing, reading material, confectionery etc. Position Summary: This position provides strategic leadership and vision to business goals by directing all activities of the hospital main Gift Shop and satellite shops. From research to planning and execution this position establishes short and long-term goals and priorities to help the organization achieve its goals. This position functions with a large amount of discretion and independence and is accountable for the decisions and products selected within the gift shop. This position serves as a liaison to Medical Center staff, visitors and patients. This position has frequent and continuous interaction with senior leadership and is accountable for decisions associated within the area of responsibility. This position is able to provide leadership with related disciplines to assure alignment and engagement throughout the department. Minimum Education Required Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in Business Management, Retail or Marketing related discipline. Considerable experience in customer service, buying and related fiscal experience required as well as strategic or long-range planning experience is recommended. Needs a solid knowledge of industry trends and innovative systems in the area of retail
