Position Overview Position Overview: The University of Kansas seeks a Senior Tax Analyst to contribute to the mission of the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The Senior Tax Analyst will serve as the primary information resource on tax compliance, tax analysis and tax research for KU. This position will assist in providing technical tax expertise to the varied University community in critical tax areas such as unrelated business income, tax-exempt debt, international transactions and activities, charitable contributions, employee compensation and fringe benefits, scholarships and fellowships, tax information reporting, sales and excise taxes, and other tax issues arising in higher education settings. This position will work to ensure the University's compliance with tax laws (federal, state, local, and international), manage the University's tax risks and liabilities, and expand the Office of the CFO's financial capacity to better facilitate the University's global activities and initiatives. Senior Tax Analyst will develop a close working relationship with Offices of Audit, Risk & Compliance, Payroll and Procurement, work closely with schools, colleges and units on basic tax questions and develop, apply and interpret the university's tax policies and procedures. Senior Tax Analyst will serve as a resource for all tax issues of the University and demonstrate problem solving abilities on a regular basis. This position will also communicate with taxing authorities to resolve matters of dispute. An ideal candidate will be resourceful and have a customer-service focus and will have tax experience working with tax-exempt organizations including higher education. They must thrive in a fast-paced environment and work well with minimum supervision.
