Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATIONFormed in 1986, CBDCE is a national not-for-profit certifying board that administers the Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist® (CDCES®) and the Board Certified-Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM®) credential programs. Approximately 20,800 health professionals are credentialed in the diabetes care and education community. CBDCE’s mission is to promote ongoing quality diabetes care, education, prevention, and support by providing certification & credentialing programs that incorporate and reflect best practices. The CBDCE Board of Directors comprises a team of certificant holders, and a public member. The Board members are dedicated volunteer leaders who bring significant expertise and set CBDCE’s strategic priorities. Several committees and work groups support CBDCE’s mission, including Credentials, Examination, Outreach, Awards, and DEIAB. The CEO reports directly to the Board of Directors and has oversight of 8 employees and a $2M budget. This is a hybrid position with the CEO expected to have a regular presence in the Schaumburg, IL office and ability to travel as needed. GENERAL ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIESThe Chief Executive Officer (“CEO") is the chief staff executive responsible for administering all activities of the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (“CBDCE”) under the supervision of the Board of Directors ("Board") or other bodies that may be specified in the Bylaws. The CEO plays a key role in working with the Board to advance the organization's mission and develop staff and organizational resources in a manner that assures delivery of high-quality services. The CEO is responsible for administering and directing activities and programs approved by the Board. The CEO will work with the Board of Directors to develop and implement the overall strategic initiatives of CBDCE, and they play a crucial role in shaping and executing CBDCE’s long-term strategic vision focus on driving and optimizing the expansion of the organization. The CEO is responsible for identifying growth opportunities, forming strategic partnerships, and overseeing marketing efforts. The CEO plays a key role in achieving sustainable growth. The CEO, with support from the Chief Operating Officer (COO), hires, develops, trains, and mentors staff. The CEO is responsible for the effective management of finances and the evaluation of programs, staff, and resources on a regular basis to assure attainment of plans and objectives of the Board and service to certificants. Through effective management and leadership, the CEO achieves measurable economic and constructive growth of the CBDCE. Supervisory Responsibilities:
