The Michigan School of Psychology (MSP) is seeking a passionate psychologist to serve as the Program Director for our fully APA accredited PsyD program.  The ideal candidate is someone dedicated to education that wants to invest in our mission “...to educate psychologists today who will transform our world tomorrow.”

As a school that is singularly focused on educating clinical psychologists, the MSP experience is different from any other school in the State of Michigan. All students are committed to becoming licensed psychologists, and all faculty share a passion and a commitment to the profession and the discipline. This makes the MSP environment truly unique.

First and foremost, we are a teaching institution.  Typically, faculty teach no more than 2 classes in a term, meaning there is time to engage students as they strive to reach educational goals and plan for their future.  With fewer than 180 students on campus, our size offers unparalleled opportunity to involve everyone in the life of the campus.  Whether working with students in supervision to address client needs or mentoring students who submit papers to national conferences, the connection between faculty and students is strong.

Being a member of the MSP community also means being a member of the psychology profession. Our faculty are actively involved in state and national organizations, and the institution provides support for every employee to attend conferences and other professional meetings. Students also have access to professional development funds enabling them to attend conferences to present, network, and bolster their careers. Most MSP faculty also participate in clinical practice ensuring that the connection between work in the classroom and work with clients is always strong.

Admitting 18-20 students each year, this program has developed a strong reputation in the field as evidenced by our 100% placement rate in APA/APPIC Internships in each of the last several years. The Director will join a team of experienced faculty that functions well as a unit and is prepared for continued success in the future. Job Description

Job Title: Program Director/Faculty

Reports to: Vice President of Academics

Employment Classification: Full-time, 12-month faculty contract; salaried/exempt

Supervises: Faculty

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership   

• Leads the PsyD program faculty in monitoring the quality of the academic program and uses assessment data to drive improvements.
• Mentors new faculty; promotes excellence in teaching, scholarship and professional service activities.
• Provides DEI leadership within the program; implements and maintains a DEI-informed curriculum, including teaching, relevancy of course materials, ongoing faculty training, and multi-culturally informed research.
• Conceptualizes and leads the annual program-level student assessment process.
• Creates a collaborative working environment between and across academic programs and services.
• Establishes the annual calendar of program faculty meetings; establishes an agenda, facilitates meetings and reviews minutes for approval by program faculty.
• Leads curriculum oversight; identifies need for new or revised curriculum according to accreditation standards and emerging trends; ensures development and implementation of curriculum changes.
• Contributes to the assessment of the program and any accreditation activities; ensures that all accreditation standards are met.
• Facilitates faculty orientation and mentoring initiatives.
• In collaboration with Vice President of Academics and Director of Human Resources, conducts faculty searches; serves on all faculty search committees.
• Manages the adjunct hiring process and ensures all course sections are appropriately staffed.
• Facilitates process for reviewing syllabi, develops and approves syllabi with adjunct faculty.
• Creates the annual course schedule, faculty teaching assignments/workload and supervision/advising assignments.
• In conjunction with the Coordinator of Admissions, facilitates program admissions in compliance with program admission criteria and process; facilitates approval of admissions decisions with program faculty; annually reviews outcomes and process with faculty for any revisions.
• Works with faculty within the program to ensure appropriate admission criteria are in place and communicated to others and reviews admission processes to ensure institutional goals are met.
• Facilitates resolution of student problems and grievances according to established policy and process.

Teaching

• Teach 2 classes per academic year with 50% reduction in supervision/advising assignments.
• Dissertation committee work as assigned.
• Participation in institutional initiatives.
• Taskforce and committee assignments as well as scholarship activities consistent with the Faculty Scholarship Model.
