Salary Range: $75,159.00-$98,291.00 Yearly. Individuals new to state service start at the minimum of the pay plan. UConn?s Facilities Operations Department has a job opening for a Maintenance Supervisor 2 (Automotive) position within the Motor Pool Shop. This is a permanent, full-time, 1st shift position, with a work schedule of Monday ? Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., 40 hours per week with an unpaid half an hour for lunch. The hourly rate of pay will be determined based on the employee?s current Step and Pay Plan. This position is categorized as Emergency Support Services/Essential Staff. Must be willing to work during emergency closures/delayed openings due to inclement weather or for significant events that affect campus operations. Applicants must also be willing to respond to emergencies on overtime (nights, weekends, holidays and weather/storm related events). Please note that Facilities Operations NP-2 employees may also be required to perform job duties as assigned at any of the Regional Campuses. This position requires considerable knowledge of modern methods and equipment involved in the automotive trade. PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS: This class is accountable for supervising a large crew (6 or more) of highly skilled trades workers and lower-level employees. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: At UConn, the Maintenance Supervisor 2 (Automotive) position, within the Motor Pool Shop of the Facilities Operations Department, is responsible for supervising a crew of highly skilled trade workers at the QCW level, along with Skilled Trades Apprentices and student labor apprentices. This position is responsible for coordinating the daily work assignments for employees; scheduling and assigning work to staff, estimating labor and material for jobs including writing quotes; providing information to supervisors and managers on the progress of jobs in the shop; assisting employees with troubleshooting work and resolving issues; working with the manager to address disciplinary actions as required; monitoring the progress of job assignments through completion; assisting with the planning, preparation and coverage for large snow/weather related events; establishing good customer relations/communication; reviewing/approving timesheets in CORE-CT and completing overtime equalization rosters; completing administrative computer work and paperwork as required; working with the Facilities Operations Business Services Staff to coordinate Environmental Health & Safety and UConn training for employees.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE Six (6) years of experience in the trade area indicated by the parenthetical title. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE Three (3) years of the General Experience must have included performing highly skilled duties in the trade area indicated by the parenthetical title.
