Head Men & Women's Volleyball Coach (10 Months - PSS3)

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time position and hours of work and days will be defined by the supervisor. Evening and weekend work is required as job duties demand JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Athletics, the individual is responsible for the successful operation, coordination, management, evaluation and supervision of all aspects of NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Volleyball programs. This includes supervising all practices, contests, recruiting academically and athletically qualified students, and conducting all activities within the rules and regulations of Ramapo College, the NCAA, NJAC, as well as other conferences. Examples of Duties DUTIES: Head Coach Responsibilities Primary responsibility is instructing / teaching our student-athletes how to perform sports specific skills in the sport of Volleyball. Supervise all practices and contests. Identify and vigorously recruit for academically and athletically qualified student-athletes. Conduct all activities within the rules and regulations established by Ramapo College, the NCAA, and other conferences. Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes. Follow up with team members on all academic progress reports received by the athletic office on Connect. Supervise and coordinate with athletic office staff the timely submission of rosters, eligibility forms, practice schedules, athletes’ coaches’ evaluations, and end of season evaluations. Work with the Athletic Training staff to ensure all players have been cleared before any participation occurs in practice or competition Work closely with Athletic Training staff for the care and prevention of athletic injuries. Work closely with the Sports Performance Coordinator with fitness and conditioning training. Supervise the completion of all paperwork required for team travel and meal money. Coordinate information and contest results with Sports Information/Marketing Coordinator to ensure accurate reporting, promotion, and publicity for the program. Develop an appropriately competitive schedule of games and contests. Select, supervise, and mentor all assistant coaches. Work closely with them clearly outlining their duties and responsibilities. Monitor distribution, use and return of uniforms. Keep accurate records of inventory each fiscal year. Maintain rapport with the college community and alumni. Raise funds as necessary and coordinates with the Ramapo College Foundation and the Director of Athletics. Accountable for knowing all of the policies and procedures in the Coaches Handbook, as well as NCAA, ECAC, NJAC regulations Must be able to lift 50 pounds, stand for extended periods of time, and assist in setting up game/field equipment. Must be able to demonstrate sport specific skills and actively participate in practice activities. Have knowledge of and ability to instantly implement Athletics’ Emergency Medical Plan. Performs other duties assigned by the Director of Athletics. Serves as game day supervisor for 4-5 winter/spring events. Serves as Athletic Facilities Supervisor opening the facility (1) day per week. Required to work Saturdays, Sundays, and evenings as needed. Meet with the Director of Athletics or designee bi-weekly to discuss progress and issues regarding the program. Serve as shot clock operator for M/W Basketball games when needed. Fostering / maintaining academic partnerships on campus as well as partnerships with other institutions, businesses, and potential supporters to benefit the men’s and women’s volleyball programs. Collaborate with EMSA colleagues and academic colleagues to develop mutual relationships that directly benefit students. Support efforts to increase and embrace diversity. Represent Ramapo College and the Department of Athletics in a professional manner, abiding by all NCAA, college and state rules and regulations. Serves as game day supervisor for (4-5 winter/spring events). Serves as Athletic Facilities Supervisor opening facility one day per week. Serve as shot clock operator for M/W Basketball games as needed.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree EXPERIENCE: One year of collegiate Head Coaching experience preferred. Experience in supervision of personnel, budgets and fundraising. ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Must demonstrate excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge and experience in supervision of personnel and budgetary matters. Successful collegiate coaching and recruiting for at least five years. Excellent organizational and supervisory skills and techniques. Must pass the NCAA Coaches exam with an 85% First Aid / CPR / AED Certified Certified Van / Transportation Safety |
Additional Salary Information: AFT - U21 - Steps 1-3 $63,833 - $70,221
