Job Description
The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is federally funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Institute of Food and Agriculture (USDA/NIFA), and the 1862 and 1890 Land-Grant Universities (LGUs); operating in all states, including the District of Columbia, and the six U.S. territories. EFNEP is a Federal Extension (community outreach) program aimed at reducing nutrition insecurity for low-income families and youth. EFNEP nutrition education classes are learner-centered and provide participants with knowledge and skills to improve their diets; improve nutrition practices; create a healthy shopping list; stretch a food budget; prepare, cook and store food safely; and increase physical activity levels for an overall healthier and nutritionally balanced lifestyle.
Collaborate with EFNEP State Office on the development of statewide trainings. Identify statewide training needs, including the creation and dissemination of materials and resources.
Under the general supervision of the EFNEP Statewide Coordinator, implement a training program, with goals and objectives, based upon program priorities. Training programs are to be developed considering Nutrition Educators' culture and literacy level, as well as learner-centered education and adult learning theory and principles.
Develop training resources to be used with local educators, Program Supervisors, and CNH Advisors who work with EFNEP.
Identify opportunities, prepare action plans, and identify solutions related to developing and implementing training programs for EFNEP staff.
Collaborate with state office team, county teams, and UC ANR departments to develop and conduct trainings on various resources and topics.
Works in a collaborative manner with a diverse organization community to develop a strategic training plan for CA EFNEP.
Serve as a champion and resource on learner-centered, and highly interactive, virtual and in-person trainings for small and large groups; lead by example when delivering trainings.
Engage in continuous learning on relevant topics to delivering a quality EFNEP program (i.e. engaging diverse communities, national dietary and physical activity guidelines, food safety practices, public health frameworks).

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in communications, K-12 or Adult Education, human development, or closely related field, and/or equivalent experience / training.
Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
Good interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate and extend technical information in an understandable manner for low-literacy audiences.
Experience delivering in-person and virtual trainings to small and large groups of adults, including experience in utilizing Zoom platform and other interactive applications for meetings and trainings.
Experience in all aspects of communications, including website design and development, newsletters, brochures, posters, postcards, media releases, digital/social media applications, graphic design, and design concepts.
Experience with analyzing social media analytics and implementing changes (i.e. creating new assets) to improve engagement.
Working knowledge of community education, technical education and/or training and development programs, including thorough understanding of adult learning theory and practices.
Experience working with federal nutrition programs, public health or community-based programs in the school system and/or outside agencies serving low-income and/or underserved audiences, such as EFNEP, SNAP-Ed, WIC, Head Start, etc.

Under the general supervision of the EFNEP Statewide Coordinator, implement a training program, with goals and objectives, based upon program priorities. Training programs are to be developed considering Nutrition Educators' culture and literacy level, as well as learner-centered education and adult learning theory and principles.
Develop training resources to be used with local educators, Program Supervisors, and CNH Advisors who work with EFNEP.
Identify opportunities, prepare action plans, and identify solutions related to developing and implementing training programs for EFNEP staff.
Collaborate with state office team, county teams, and UC ANR departments to develop and conduct trainings on various resources and topics.

Experience delivering in-person and virtual trainings to small and large groups of adults, including experience in utilizing Zoom platform and other interactive applications for meetings and trainings.
Experience in all aspects of communications, including website design and development, newsletters, brochures, posters, postcards, media releases, digital/social media applications, graphic design, and design concepts.
Experience with analyzing social media analytics and implementing changes (i.e. creating new assets) to improve engagement.
