Visiting Assistant Professor of Business

Summary Washington & Jefferson College invites applications for a one-year visiting position in business at the rank of Assistant Professor to start in the fall 2025 semester. This is a new position that may lead to a tenure-line position in the future, depending on department needs, budgetary requirements, and incumbent performance. We are seeking a dynamic individual who can connect well with our undergraduate students to bring life to business courses. A key responsibility of this position will include teaching sections of our introduction to Business course, a freshman/sophomore-level course that serves as an introduction to our department programming and is required for all our majors and minors. In addition, we are seeking a person who can contribute to our marketing and/or entrepreneurship curriculum through upper-level electives. Finally, we welcome applicants who could contribute to programming at our Ignite business incubator, which provides outreach to the community through a variety of services to early-stage entrepreneurs (www.igniteforsuccess.org). As a part of your overall commitment to teaching excellence, you will be well-versed in the appropriate use of technology and ready to contribute to innovative curriculum development and delivery. You will be expected to develop strong relationships with colleagues, inspire and prepare students through your teaching, and demonstrate a high level of organization and communication ability. The teaching load is three courses (four credit hours each) per semester. Additional responsibilities include advising students, engaging in scholarship or other appropriate professional activities, remaining current in the field, and engaging in service to the department, college, and broader communities. We seek professionals who are thoughtful, creative, and nimble leaders who can add immediate value in the complex environment of private higher education. About Our Department The Department of Business at Washington & Jefferson College offers undergraduate majors and minors in business administration, accounting, and finance, as well as several focused minors and programs, in a liberal arts environment. Qualifications A relevant master's degree along with relevant professional experience. Preferred candidates will have an earned doctorate in Business or a related field and college-level teaching experience in business.
